for me, I'm pretty sure it was the Rolling Stones album Sticky Fingers. This was back in 1985 or 1986. Ever since I've had to try and keep it seperated from the rest of the album collection so the damn zipper doesn't warp everything.

Probably one of those limited edition Papa M EPs on Drag City from 4 or 5 years ago. All of which then got rounded up and released on a CD album anyway. Which I bought. Duh.

I think it was used copies of Thunderclap Newman's Hollywood Dream and Afreaka by Demon Fuzz, about three days ago.

The last one i PURCHASED was, i believe, Murray Street by Sonic Youth... But for christmas, my girlfriend's mum gave me a copy of Changesbowie on vinyl... It was an import, too, since she originally bought it in Belgium... They don't have a record player, though, and i do... So here we are.

I buy almost exclusively vinyl. Last I purchased would be, let me think... a couple of Benoit Pioulard 7" EPs, which I hope are sitting in the mailroom downstairs.

The Foundry Field Recordings - "Battle Brigades" 7"

Not owning a turntable and generally having too much music in various formats keeps me from buying vinyl. My last used vinyl binge was probably at the last Les Turner ALS Mammoth Music Mart, which was 4-5 years ago now.

The last new vinyl LPs I bought were probably copies of Robyn Hitchcock's Moss Elixir (called Mossy Liquor) and Storefront Hitchcock, both of which had music unique to vinyl. That was probably 8 or 10 years ago.

The original Replacements 12" lps and singles are still available through Twin Tone, and were my penultimate purches of new vinyl. I think my last new vinyl purchase was a 12" "don't make me come to vegas" (remix versions) by Tori Amos. Of course, I still pick up non-new stuff all the time at yard sales and thrift stores. Most of what I find sealed is from the eighties, though none of that within the past several year, or special editions of new releases at independent stores like Kiss the Sky (now) in Geneva.

The more I listen to digital music, the more I like vinyl.
I didn't purchase, but "borrowed back" from my bruddah the vinyl MONO copies of"Beatles '65" and "Yesterday and Today", the original Capitol recordings we had as young pullers.
Goddam. They are scratched to hell, but if that isn't the way those records were meant to be heard, then I'm gonna look for a book of Don Henley's poetry.
Mono. Vinyl. Honestly, for rock and roll, is there any point in using anything else? I mean, once I got past the novelty of hearing Hendrix's guitar sweep the headphones whilst stoned on shitty 60's weed, what the fuck do ya need stereo for? "Separate the instruments"?! Fuck the instruments; let 'em separate themselves in a good, balls-out, highly compressed, high-fidelity mono mix. Mono will also separate the men from the boys (which in some studios, takes a crowbar) as far as mixing/producing, cuz you need to be that much better to get it happenning on one track.
Classical music? Digital, stereo--fuck yeah.
Rock and roll? Mono/ vinyl.
The real reason Phil Spector killed that woman is because she wanted to hear something in stereo.
As the psychiatrist said to the man wearing nothing but Saran-Wrap, "I can clearly see you're nuts."

New: Do singles count? I got Willy Masons two disk gatefold thing. Man, can't even remember the name of the song....the one with the tiger or whatever on the front. I try to get at least one single a week, cheaper than an itunes download in HMV plus you get something nice to look at for the 2 or 3 minutes Used: Got Wilco's Being There quite recently plus my brother found me a (scratched) After The Gold Rush and a pristine Hunky Dory last week. Very very used: Claimed poscession of my grandfathers collection of traditional Irish music. Woooooooooo!
