1. The Search 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.
Every Sunday morning I wake up
I see you by your dresser doing your make-up
Fluttering a Chinese fan in a Knoxville fashion
All last night you tossed and turned
Your body was hotter than the night Richmond burned
You say you had a bad nightmare about tractor trailers crashing
- The Felice Brothers

Person Pitch

This one might make my list. It's growing on me, and is one of the few adventurous records I have heard so far this year.

Distance - My Demons
Amon Tobin - Foley Room
Grinderman - st
Kieran Hebden & Steven Reid Tounges
Euros Childs Bore Da
Pantha Du Prince - This Bliss
Radicalfashion - Odori
The Good, The Bad & The Queen
Pole - Steingarten
Deerhunter - Cryptograms

I've listened to Boris's Rainbow, Black Elk's debut and Bill Callahan's Woke on a Whaleheart as much as anything else this year but I think they all fall foul of Mitchell's draconian release date restrictions. An Ethereal Oracle owns too but Im not sure when that came out. Ive bought a fuck-load of ep's and 12"s so far this year so Ive been neglecting LP's a bit.

Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank 6. The National Lights - The Dead Will Walk, Dear 7. Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha 8. Marissa Nadler - Songs III: Bird on the Water 9. Maria Taylor - Lynn Teeter Flower 10. Lucinda Williams - West The bottom half of that is very light/folkie isn't it? Also, my real numbers 3, 4, and 5 all come out in the next 15 days, so this list will be pretty different very soon.

Harsh, Mitchell... because of your reign of terror, I cannot include such luminaries as Feist and the Sea and Cake in this list. However, I can tell you that I love Of Montreal's "Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?" so much that it would take a pretty much flawless album to dethrone it by the end of the year. The rest of my top ten, in alphabetical order by artist: Apples in Stereo - "New Magnetic Wonder" Arcade Fire - "Neon Bible" Bloc Party - "A Weekend in the City" Broken West - "I Can't Go on, I'll Go on" Explosions in the Sky - "All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone" The Good, The Bad, and The Queen - s/t Gruff Rhys - "Candylion" Low - "Drums and Guns" The Shins - "Wincing the Night Away"

Best of the best so far: 1. Bracken - We Know About the Need 2. Radicalfashion - Odori 3. Panda Bear - Person Pitch 4. Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank 5. Radical Face - Ghost 6. Eluvium - Copia 7. Pantha du Prince - This Bliss 8. Stars of the Lid - And Their Refinement Of the Decline 9. Deerhunter - Cryptograms 10. Gareth S. Brown - Iron Henry notes: - this list is sans leaks - i still gotta check out that El-P record, but based on the few tracks i've heard, it might make the big list - the Battles album will be up there, when it is officially released - there are many albums i'm eagering awaiting, some biggies (Radiohead) and some that will most likely fly under the radar (Shapes and Sizes). either way, this list will likely look completely different a couple months from now.
I don't even get your t-shirts pun.
