Pretty sure I posted the first paragraph from that in this thread about a year ago.

Good times.

Oops. I honestly forgot about that.

No, I'm not saying that your post is inferior! I'm just acknowledging the coincidence (if that's the right word.)

Alright, my friends. It's time for another solid little rock jam

My poor baby 15 1/2 year old car is sick. Is it stupid to spend more than the value of the car to fix it? I think not

I just sorted through many, many pages of this thread for this!

Scroll up for your happy lil' post.

EDIT: Okay, quite a bit less than a year ago.

Do I attract you?
Do I repulse you with my queasy smile?
Am I too dirty?
Am I too flirty?
Do I like what you like?

I got to be wholesome
I could be loathsome
Guess I'm a little bit shy
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you like me without making me try?

I like being me--it's not a bad gig, all things considered. But sometimes I think I'd really enjoy being Sondre Lerche.

My poor baby 15 1/2 year old car is sick. Is it stupid to spend more than the value of the car to fix it? I think not

I first read this as, "15 1/2 year old cat." Which enhanced Yancy's & Tjenz' replies.

Jess, a diagnostic mechanic (whose shop wouldn't be doing the repairs) told me that if the repairs buy you x months of use and cost an acceptable margin less than that many months of new car payments, it's ok to make costly repairs to a junker. The dicey part is whether said repairs will be enough or whether there will be more, more, and more...

im bored and at work. finally fit into that crowd, eh?

Took you long enough.

It depends on the car, how many problems it has, mileage, etc. I have a 10 year old Nissan Maxima with 270K miles on it, I got the car from my Dad 4 years ago with only 30K on it. I just had to spend $2,000+ on a Transmission rebuild, which is still half of the trade in value of it.
