How much have you done? What years? What storied do you have about your trips? Share them here. I did a lot of acid from 1995-1997 at least I thought it was a lot. I raved on weekends for a bit but that got way to pricey. $5 a hit has to be the best bang for your buck out there. 12 hours of chaos and laughter. I think I had an ideal first trip. It startedon a trampoline and it peaked laying on our backs aproximately 4 feet from the train tracks as the trains went buy. What a rush. A quck stop at a friends former apartment that was empty but he still had the keys for found us cutting holes in glow sticks and tying them to the cieling fans and watching them go splat splat in the dark against the wall.
shame on us doomed from the start may god have mercy on our dirty little hearts shame on us for all we have done and all we ever were just zeros and ones

I had more fun dropping acid in the eye of a cat and watching it tweak and shiver(still to this day in fact) then I ever had dropping it myself

about 50 times or so but this was from...say...1976 to 1985. too much work to tell the tales though many there were.
Bottom line..I enjoyed it and gained enlightenment but no matter how many times you think you find the key to all the worlds problems...nope...just not there.
Quit doing them when the realties of life came about...family, bills, etc.

Best advice...never do it in a public place...always in a controlled environment or out in the wilderness...and when on a freaky trip..always remember it'll end sooner or later.

and that's cruel...not cool.

totally OTM post here. I have emboldened the statements that are very true, while italicizing the statements that highlight Rob Gordon's geezerliness. Though a cool, drug-doin' geezer he is.

i have nothing against acid, but i have always been too scared to try it myself. i read all about it a couple of years ago when i was thinking abuot trying it (fourth of july in bruton, alabama (pop. 500), my friend had enough for both of us, and wanted to "really watch the fireworks"), and apparently the last guy who made it back in the day was arrested a few years back ,and everything made since then has been impostor shit. i'll stick with mushrooms and pot for now.

LSD provides a considerably better, more predictable, and more rewarding experience than mushrooms in my experience. Just FYI. Nothing to be scared of at all as long as you control the situation in which you take it (nature or a nice house with music/movies/art material/instruments/good friends, for example).

I only dropped acid once in college, but I remember it very fondly. One of the highlights was sitting underneath a street light and watching it dissolve into big, blue raindrops. Good times. Not so good was that my ex-girlfriend called in the middle of my trip--that was fairly unpleasant.

Disagree.
Every Sunday morning I wake up
I see you by your dresser doing your make-up
Fluttering a Chinese fan in a Knoxville fashion
All last night you tossed and turned
Your body was hotter than the night Richmond burned
You say you had a bad nightmare about tractor trailers crashing

Hah. yeah. Was counting on this response from you :)

I've just had a couple of uneasy shroom trips, due (I think) to more unpredictability in the product. All of my Acid trips have been stone-cold-classics.

Totally into shrooms, as well. They're totally different experiences, though. I was just pointing out to Pinkerton that LSD (well, I don't know about makeshift rural Alabama LSD) isn't anything to be intimidated by. Any increased intensity is only for the best.

Gave up shrooms at the same time but never did that many due to availability I suppose. There is something to be said for the organic versus man-made. Shrooms tend to keep coming at you in waves. Oh...I think I'm comin' down....no...wait a minute...wham...trippin' again.

Next time you take shrooms, put on Echoes after you get going. That is all. ;)

There is an organic quality to mushrooms that supercedes the slight artifical vibe from LSD. The best trips are music listening parties or campfires/camping(although the fire can suck you in too much, so it's good to get away so you can see the night sky).

Montana, otm about music parties. Last time i shroomed we filled my friends apartment up with fog and we danced with lightsticks in the fog. shit was so thick you couldn't see the back of the living room from the front door. fucking awesome. and if you're inside, "going on an adventure" to outside wherever you are is cool too.

I'm sure tripping in the wilderness of nature is wonderful, but I've blasted my balls off tripping in downtown Chicago, taking an El full of people well you trip is hillarious, just running around downtown tripping is great, you can just sit at a bus stop looking at all the buildings and ad's and feel like you've entered an alternate universe.

one of my friends doesn't do shrooms anymore because the last time she did them maggots started falling out of one of those chinese paper lamps her friend had hanging in the corner. i agree with your "you gotta have the right mindsight" thing, but sometimes thing's just go awry.
