ugh, time to quickly throw together my taxes again. i swore this year i'd be all up on it but one of my w2's was missing and i JUST got it today. so... what do you use to efile? i used turbotax last year and THOUGHT it was free but now they are telling me i need to cough up $30. fuck you, i'm not giving you fucking $30. basically, i need the simplest, most free website there is. i made almost nothing last year, and i though i recalled that if you were under a certaina mount you didnt need to pay to efile. apparently not to turbotax. HELP! or, just use this thread to brag abut how early you got yours done and how much you are getting back.

look for options at http://www.irs.gov/a...e/jsp/index.jsp

some of these services are not available (or not free) in certain states.

why can't you just mail them in? It's not free, but it's really inexpensive.

M. Ward - Hold Time 8.0/10
Neko Case -Middle Cyclone her best I've heard is my initial impression, but too soon to rate, haven't had a really good listen yet 7.8/10

i invest w/ Vanguard and they let me use Turbo Tax for free w/ a link thru their website. If you invest w/ a firm, check to see if they offer it, or go thru the irs.gov site

"After much thought into this, I have finally come to a conclusion as to why the ‘Meet the Spartans’ commercial is so funny:

It is an interesting choice to have Sanjaya sing ‘I’m not gay,’ as his final words on earth. As he is plummeting into a seemingly bottomless pit, he does not say ‘dear god no,’ ‘I love you mom,’ or even simply ‘argh.’ He instead takes the moment to reaffirm to the world, in spite of their doubts, that he is not a homosexual. Not only that, but he continues to sing, despite falling to his certain death. The distinct lack of plausibility of this situation is what produces giggles from our mouth. It is the antithesis to the belief that ‘it’s funny because it is true.’

You do know the cost of the software is deducted from your taxes, right? Although you do have to pay the fee to e-file, you could always just use turbotax and them mail in the return

The software isn't free, but as far as I know, efiling should be free as long as you meet the criteria with TurboTax. At least, that's what the report on NPR said this weekend about the whole pay-for-efiling bullshit.

I'm still dreading doing mine. I should get on it this week. I'm going to owe thousands upon what I've already paid in my quarterlies. Yuck.

like that's really a financial benefit. <_< Kids are f'ing expensive. Houses are too. Never let anyone convince you that buying a home is such a logical financial move because "your mortgage will be less than your rent and you'll be earning equity". It may sound true, and it may be a good move, but you will NOT pay less than you do to rent, unless you own a home that's smaller than the apt you rent.

This is the first year in memory we're getting a refund. woohoo!
