It's my album of the decade, chuckles or no chuckles.
Well cool on the web like Spiderman.

I didn't mean it that way. Taste is entirely subjective. I have no doubt mine is suspect as well. But getting back to the real point, a rock-hard decision should be made if this album is eligible or not. Because I don't want to see a lot of threads that are either: "I loved Blood Visions. If more people had considered it eligible, it would've ranked higher." or "This album doesn't deserve to be on this list. I didn't consider it eligible. I don't know why anyone else did."

Well, if it came out in October and we decide it's eligible then anything that came out in the 4th quarter of '06 would have to be eligible for 2007, right? Looks like it's time for a poll. Let the arguing commence (in a different thread)!

Red is right

Aren't the rules that it has to place top 100 to be ineligible, though?

The GDB always held that out as the other half of the eligibility equation. The first half is you have to be able to make a decent case for it as a 2007 release.

Terrible.
Every Sunday morning I wake up
I see you by your dresser doing your make-up
Fluttering a Chinese fan in a Knoxville fashion
All last night you tossed and turned
Your body was hotter than the night Richmond burned
You say you had a bad nightmare about tractor trailers crashing

to most of us here, this record is THAT important.

seriously...

It's important to the same five hyperactive teens who keep bumping it with nonsense.

and you think by bumping it, you are helping the cause? you help keep this thread on top, just stay out of it if you aren't on board with the love. You have proved your point: you dont love this album, and you can't believe that this thread is so long, but by posting how much you don't love this album you make this thread longer.

golly, you're stupid sometimes.

It's going to be bumped wether I post in it or not. I look forward to the next round of nonsense bumping.

The GDB always held that out as the other half of the eligibility equation. The first half is you have to be able to make a decent case for it as a 2007 release.

2005 vs. 2006 eligibility is broken down as follows--if you can make a case for it being 2006, you can vote for it. So that includes albums released in your country for the first time in 2006, albums that didn't receive wide exposure until 2006, or albums that were released in Dec. 2005 and didn't have enough time to sink in before voting last year.

HOWEVER--and this is a big however--you absolutely can not, under any circumstances, vote for an album that made our top 100 last year. I don't care what the extenuating circumstances are, this role is non-negotiable.

As far as I'm concerned, Blood Visions can be voted for in the 2007 EOY poll. What I meant earlier was that if people like Sausage and Paves don't want to vote for it as a 2007 release, they shouldn't feel any obligation to do so.

I blame Ted Falconi.

After my attempt at year-end hype for Fucked Up's monstrous Hidden World lp in the Pop-Punk/Punk/Emo thread, fizzled pitifully, I was too depressed and demoralized to try to turn people on to Jay Reatard's just-as-shockingly-great-if-not-better Blood Visions.

I found Hidden World to actually be a tad bit disappointing. I kind of would like to hear it again, but on the first few listens, too many of the songs just seemed so plodding and monotonous. Nothing really grabbed me.

The album's legacy on this board goes back quite a bit (well, two days) farther...

Jay Reatard - Blood Visions

Just hearing this one for the first time and it's fantastic. Super catchy but really raw sounding punk. Love it.

I listened to some iTunes samples and instantly wanted to hear the whole thing. I googled like mad for Y-S-I's floating around on other forums. Finally searched for "Reatard" in the SOMB search engine. Came across this thread, I believe. Pretty sure that's where I downloaded it. First heard it on December 24th, 2006. I think. Two days later...

This is fucking great.

The rest is JIZZtory.
