Our vision of "fucking great" is clearly on opposite ends of the spectrum. Clearly.

It's simple economics (rockonomics?). Twenty minutes is all you need. Plus, if it was priced like the Entry was, it was only $8.00 to get in. So, you're essentially paying, what, $0.40/song? And, the PBR tallboys (hipster beer du jour) were only $2.00. Jay's a cheap date. Fuck, I'm loving those singles. "Don't Let Him Come Back" is the current jam. That guitar solo is beautiful.

I'm a pretty tolerant person, but I've never seen so many fucking hipsters in one place in my life. Kids, say no to scarves with tshirts. It was like a hipster costume party in there.

I am surprised and appalled by this.

Damo Suzuki: So, um, yeah. Getting older isn't as bad as it sounds. Better than being young & poor (DjDrake) or young & slutty (SG) or young, poor and slutty (Paves); am I right?

Alright, my friends. It's time for another solid little rock jam

He played for 20 minutes? This thread was essentially building to this concert and you're telling me this dickhead gave you guys 20 minutes?

Someone needs to put this thread in a time capsule.

To be unearthed 20 minutes later and posted on yet again.

We must have been at different shows. All I saw were dudes in jeans & t-shirts. Or maybe I just spend too much time talking to friends and watching the band to worry about dark bar fashion.

I don't want Jay to slow down, I want him to play twice as many songs. Maybe he should open for himself solo acoustic, do all those blog tunes. That could be the slow set.

maybe a ten minute longer set, so i still could've made it home. Somehow managed to rock this test even though I didn't roll into Dekalb until 2:30. I rule. Punk rock forever

Shit, I just remembered that 7" is still in the back seat of my car. Hope it doesn't cook before I can get out there and shade it.

When he announced that song--by shouting, "'I Know A PLace', let's go!"--I took it as an invitiation.

yes, the show was short and still killed. i got to meet sausage. then, the girl i went to the show with began telling me that i was cockblocking her from getting with jay. i ended up driving 3 hours back from the city fucking PLASTERED. good times.
"Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercial and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humour."

As promised, here's a zip of every live link in this thread I could find as well as Blood Visions and all the blog tracks. I feel so late to the party as I finally decided to really listen the night of the show, and now Jay Reatard is all I'm listening to. Hoping someone will up some of the other stuff, particularly Lost Sounds.

Includes:
Blood Visions
All the blog tracks
Hammer I Miss You EP
I Know A Place 7"
In the Dark 7"
Night of Broken Glass EP
Terror Visions- Endless Tunnel
Boston Chinks Slit 7"
Pus Visions (random tracks that someone put up)

Anyway, glad you found him.
