Insultingly boring and just as cliched as any gangsta or coke rap out there.
I'm not letting the mainstream off the hook, just stating the truth.

That's not just true of indie rap, that's true of all rap. And all music in fact. For every good "indie rap" album that comes along, there are at least ten like this:
Insultingly boring and just as cliched as any gangsta or coke rap out there.

It's not even like that record was bad, anyway. 'Man Vs Ape' and 'Glass' were fucking great. Saw them live with Murs when they were touring it, and they put on a really good show.

What the fuck are you doing equating the banality of "indie rap" with Yes.Exactly.Why do so many people here seem to prefer indie rock over say commercial rock, or however you'd call it, etc.why do so many people here seem to prefer indie rap over say commercial rap, or however you'd call it, with the likes of t.i., young jeezy, lil wayne and such?
There is this weird luddism going on in internet rap scenes where anything experimental or alternative in rap is a bad thing
I don't know why, but there's something about the vibe. Aesop Rock and Sage Francis and whoever are all talented, but something in the delivery or the production feels awkward. Maybe there's too much of a desire to be smarter than everybody else, which sometimes feels forced and kills a lot of rock music too, like Yes. When it comes off effortlessly, ie. Jay-Z, you have something good.

Damo Suzuki: So, um, yeah. Getting older isn't as bad as it sounds. Better than being young & poor (DjDrake) or young & slutty (SG) or young, poor and slutty (Paves); am I right?
Alright, my friends. It's time for another solid little rock jam

Deltron was a great album, but I would never consider that to be the best hip-hop album of this decade. It wasn't even Del's best album of 2000. Both Sides of the Brain was fucking epic. I'm a big fan of all things Del (minus The Eleventh Hour), but Both Sides of the Brain is a little better, in my opinion. That was a good year for Del. Probably his two best albums actually. Can't beat "If You Must." That could also be because of my childhood love for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3.

is that the "it's important to practice good hygiene" song? i fucking loved tony hawk 3.
edit: if someone told me that they thought deltron 3030 was the best hip hop record of the decade, i wouldn't disagree. not my pick, but great, overlooked album regardless.

Classic album, right here.
