I got to listen to the soundtrack for the upcoming dvd "You're Gonna Miss Me" from my work at umg. The songs were so good like the two new songs "For You" and "Goodbye Sweet Dreams." If any of you like psychedelic rock, hopefully you will like the soundtrack by Roky. The dvd comes out on July 10, hope everyone enjoys him. www.rokymovie.com

Dude, I would hardly consider Roky Erickson to be major label shit, far from it in fact. While I completely agree that this is not a place for Street-teamers and I am not trying to defend finster, but I doubt you could find to many connections with Roky and major Labels. If you go to the link, Palm Pictures looks like an Independent Film Company, not a major label. I am a big fan of Roky, and in fact a close friend was the first person he played with in 10 years (Roky's brother told him how jealous he was). Of course those are the fringe benefits of working for Gibson guitars and giving Roky a free guitar and Amp. (Roky thought they only let him borrow it, but my buddy made sure he knew it was his and then had a custom paisley Les Paul built for him as well).

alright, I take it back. I just don't appreciate lying street teamers, but god bless Roky and all that he's done for music.

Here's the Trailer to the new flick:

"New?"

Is there another Roky documentary or is this the same film I saw last year at the Siskel?

FWIW, Palm Pictures is distributed by Universal Music Group (AKA "umg") Roky still rules, tho.

I guess it came out in 2005. I just saw it during a Roky's Birthday Party celebration at the Paramount in Austin. The most surreal part of the whole thing for me was dancing with Roky's mom, aka the antagonist of the movie, during the show Roky put on after the movie. Really, really bizarre and surreal.

There was a great article in Texas Monthly about him years and years ago, where they described how when they went to his house outside of Austin to do an interview, there were: Several TVs on at full volume just playing a channel of static Several radios tuned to static or some poorly tuned AM station Lots of other electronic things making some kind of sounds. I knew nothing about drugs at the time or about Roky Erickson, but remember reading the article and just thinking "how could anyone live like that?"

That movie looks great- Probably should have paid more attention to Roky last year at Intonation.

That documentary is worth it for the American Bandstand footage alone.
