11:59 was my number one also. I love the urgency.i can't believe i'm the only person who adores "11:59". and i can't believe p-fuck docked it 0.3. of course this is a 10.
Also voted "nine" overall. Great album!

New cover is terrible.
Yeah, seriously! Those lines aren't even parallel.
I actually don't know this album outside of a song or two. I was thinking about picking up this reissue, but I may try to find a cheaper, older version. I never watch DVDs that are included in these things, and I certainly don't want to pay extra for them. At least it's not a DualDisc.

Mitchell: Which five did you have to pick from? I had the same dilemma. I went with "Sunday Girl", which would't have been true even ten years ago, but there's something in its poppy, sunny ebullience that stays with me. Better melody, maybe? I'll be humming it the rest of today.
Paul: Music, no contest. You don't have to socialize with a record. It will always be your friend.
'Mo: Jealous you had access to friends with taste that good - I had to hear way too much Boston and Rush when I was that age.
Problem with cover art: There's no way for it to be good, simply because it's what we're all accustomed to. Could have been the original was awful beyond blief - every one of us would still prefer the known to something new. So why even bother?
UselessRocker: The only one, huh? Seriously? Auto American is a pretty great record. As are Plastic Letters and Eat to the Beat. Less said abut The Hunter, the better.
Debbie Harry is still mad at Lester Bangs for his book about them. A real testament to the power of the word, and to never reaching adulthood.

Yeah, Parallel Lines is the one Blondie record I like. I just never liked Blondie much. I don't hate them the way I do Sublime or anything like that. It was an ongoing debate with an old friend. Her argument was that Blondie was the best band of that era and that Debbie Harry was the greatest woman in pop/rock history and my position was "I really like Talking Heads etc a million times better and I'll take a lot of the '90s riot grrls over Debbie etc". But she'd put PL on and I'd always be like "Well, "Hanging on the Telephone" IS awesome." I was actually really disappointed when I found out it was a cover. That song was the thing that kept Blondie afloat for me. I could needle my friend and tell her Debbie Harry is "overrated" but HOTT would start up and I'd be like "Ok, you're right, she's awesome". But anyway, it's a good cover and there are plenty of other good songs on the album.

Probably
Hanging On The Telephone, One Way Or Another, 11:59, Heart Of Glass or Just Go Away. This is an old thread though so it may have been different at the time.
