I'm thinking some Todd Rundgren?? i'm not v. familiar w his catalog and when i heard him previously it didnt click, but i'm open to try again.
youtubes/zshare's welcome
Yes to the Todd Rundgren. Anything off Something/Anything or Runt will do: "Hello Its Me", "I Saw the Light", "We Gotta Get You A Woman"...so many fantastic songs.
"What A Fool Believes" by the Doobie Brothers was the soundtrack to one of my favorite drunken Xmas parties. AM Gold at its finest.
Really, you're not going to go wrong with anything by Steely Dan or Fleetwood Mac, so dig in.
"Jackie Blue" by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, great pop with harmonies.
"Magnet & Steel" by Walter Egan. On the Fleetwood Mac tip.
A particular guilty pleasure of mine is "Lonesome Loser" by the Little River Band, sort of like a country-ish Journey. Though I must admit this will probably be an acquired taste.
I'm at work, so sorry no youtube or mp3 action.

what is solo lindsey buckingham like?
"Trouble" from his first solo album, Law and Order, though released in 1981, is very much in the AM 70s vein. Another favorite of mine. The rest of the album is a bit more quirky and 50s-influenced, though not bad.
2nd album, Go Insane, from 1984 sounds very much of its time. There are about 3-4 great tracks on there, but its much more new wave/synth-pop oriented.
He had a great song on the Back to The Future soundtrack called "Time Bomb Town" that sounds like a great lost Talking Heads song. Worth seeking out.

Starts out '70s smooth on the "Magnet & Steel" tip, gets a little more '80s and upbeat as the night goes on. It's great pacing because by the time the beats kick in, white people are drunk enough to dance. At least that what I remember of it from last time.that sounds amazing! what will the sets be like?? i'm hoping more glenn frey than '80s nite hits' right?

by the way deej, Bob Seger is the guy who did "Night Moves"
a few more off the top of my head:
Stuck in the Middle With You - Stealer's Wheel
Lido Shuffle - Boz Skaggs
Different Drum - Stone Ponys (I think this was 60's but it's too great to leave out)
lots of great Carole King songs, mostly off of Tapestry
Dusty Springfield - Dusty in Memphis 8.5/10
Buddy & Julie Miller - Written in Chalk wow, first listen, but great great record! 9.3/10
Justin Townes Earle - Midnight at the Moviessurprisingly great, never picked up his past releases, but this one's knocking my socks off right away, 8.7/10
M. Ward - Hold Time 8.0/10
Neko Case -Middle Cyclone her best I've heard is my initial impression, but too soon to rate, haven't had a really good listen yet 7.8/10

Oh man, its a shame you missed my massive 70s AM pop drop I did back in like April.
Was liek 6 hours of this stuff I upped.
Hmmmmm. Mayube its ttime for a re-up.
If anyone expresses interest, I can be persuaded.
I love this stuff, so anything you got I'd be interested in.
Lots of stuff I have only on vinyl and never got around to finding digital copies.
