THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN ADD MORE FALL DATES

New Song Featured On Upcoming “Heroes” Soundtrack

(September 24, 2007) – THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN today announced two new dates on their west coast fall tour. The recently reunited group will return to the U.S. beginning October 20th in Las Vegas and have added stops in San Diego and Denver. Last week, it was announced that Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will be supporting the band on the October 23rd date in Los Angeles.

The Jesus and Mary Chain have recorded a new song, “All Things Must Pass,” which will be their first new release in nearly 10 years. The song will appear on the forthcoming "Heroes" soundtrack to the critically heralded NBC TV series, scheduled for a mid-January '08 release.

After playing their last gig in 1998 and breaking up in 1999, The Jesus & Mary Chain reunited this spring for a handful of high-profile club and festival dates in the U.S. and Europe which began with a triumphant main stage performance in front of an estimated 10,000 fans at Coachella. In their only U.S. interview to date, brothers Jim and William Reid sat down with Rolling Stone magazine the day after that performance and hinted at a possible return to the studio, which is now confirmed.

In addition to Jim and William Reid, The Jesus & Mary Chain lineup includes Phil King on bass, Mark Crozer on guitar, and Loz Colbert on drums.

THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN on tour:
10/20 – Las Vegas, NV @ House of Blues
10/22 – Anaheim, CA @ House of Blues
10/23 – Los Angeles, CA @ Wiltern Theatre
10/24 – San Diego, CA @ 4th & B
10/26 – San Francisco, CA @ The Fillmore
10/27 – San Francisco, CA @ The Fillmore
10/28 – Denver, CO @ The Fillmore Auditorium

Evan Dando supports on Oct. 20,22,23,26,28
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club supports Oct. 23
Other supporting acts will be announced soon.

“It’s the “return” of The Jesus And Mary Chain at the Main Stage on opening night that encapsulates how the confluence of time, place and atmospheric conditions can summon the near-mystic power of gargantuan music circuses… In a selection of vintage, Velvets-y drones including Some Candy Talking, Reverence, and Sidewalking, plus an attractive new thumper called All Things Must Pass, they benefit from a superbly taut and pulsating sound mix that places correct focus on the considerable skills of former Lush bassist Phil King and ex-Ride tubwhacker Loz Colbert, who provide the focus in support of William’s artfully wah’d and ring-modulated screech, buzz, whirr and howl…” --MOJO

“On Friday evening the Scottish band the Jesus and Mary Chain, middle-aged and reunited after eight years, cast their dour gloss on 1960s bubblegum pop with its old clouds of noise and fuzz much reduced. The set was streamlined, dogged and shrewdly withheld; the force of the slow tempos and the guitar feedback was just powerful enough… The big thing was the band's singer, Jim Reid, and the rigor of his acid blankness; the corners of his mouth almost never turned above a flat line. ''Are you having fun?'' he asked the crowd, after singing ''Sidewalking.'' The crowd said yes. ''Well, we'll see what we can do about that,'' he said.” --The New York Times

“Also on the main stage, Jesus and Mary Chain played a greatest-hits set (plus one solid new song) that was impressively tight for a band that has hardly played together since their 1999 break-up.“ --Rolling Stone.com

I don't understand why people are excited about this reunion, other than to say "I saw the JAMC."

Very boring when I saw them.

I've always wanted to see them. I just have a hard time believing that they would be bad live - although thats what absolutely everyone seems to say.

no I'd say both were true circa 98' had I seen them in 89 I may have felt different but that last tour completely blew so I for one am not particularly excited by the reunion idea unfortunately.

I saw their pre-Coachella warm-up show in Pomona, CA and it was awesome. Not mind blowing but to hear these songs live was something amazing. They were more than adequate.
