Review of the Friday ICA night on The Quietus .

Don't you get Graham Coxon as support tonight and not missing any football! Didn't open with "Only Shallow" last night.

A friend says Kate Nash was there on Saturday, something to bring up if I see her at Glastonbury.

PS. Sorry to disappoint but by all accounts they've never played "Sometimes" live.
Nice bowl of Crunchy Nut you got here, pretty expensive as I recall.

Well, that was absolutely fucking ridiculous. Nothing I've read here or anywhere else had really prepared me for how loud it was going to be. Earplugs absolutely essential, don't fuck about. The ones they give out are pretty good but not terribly comfortable.

Set could have been two songs shorter, Value for money not an issue here, it's MBV, no one would have complained if they'd played 85 minutes instead of 95. There was one point where the guy next to me sent me a text - no point trying to speak - saying 'this is getting a bit boring' and he was right; but then the next 3 songs up were Slow - Soon - Feed me with your kiss. So...Wow.

Went for a walk round the back after 10 minutes or so of holocaust, plenty of 1000 yard stares in evidence, the security staff were just pointing at people and laughing.

Coxon was alright, doing his one-man journey into sound, sampling and looping himself and whining over the top from time to time in that Barretty way he has.

That was a great review. They all look like serious drug addicts

I'll be happy just to see MBV live. They could play Kate Nash covers and hey, it'd still be MBV live and in living color. But it is pretty disappointing that they're not digging out "Sometimes".

Jon Wozencroft, photographer and owner of the Touch label (Fennesz, Rosy Parlane et al)
put together a moving slideshow of MBV @ the Roundhouse

unfortunately not any good shots of the stage, but plenty of people holding their ears

would mind the exclusion of "Sometimes" more if it wasn't easy enough to just turn your amp to shit-level distortion and play/mumble the song yourself would also mind more if i could afford a ticket
Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

Does anyone want a ticket for the Sept 27 show at the Aragon? I just found out I have a wedding to attend. Boo. $40. I'll eat the asinine "service charge."

I can't imagine anyone missing MBV for the sole reason that they hate the venue they're playing at.
Just say something perfect, something I can steal.

Damn, wish I could just get this interview over and get this job so I could not feel bad about spending 40 bucks to go see MBV.

Fair enough. I was a wee lad back then, so I'm frothing over the fact that I can finally see MBV now. They're playing the worst venue in Toronto too, but from all accounts I've heard, they've made some pretty big caverns in the UK sound great. Stoked.

I really doubt my ability to get to Chicago and back in time for work today to sell it to you. And I really need the money today/tomorrow. I'd probably ask more than you'd want to pay, too.
