my shit is definitely hijacked! help? i haven't been able to even open up internet explorer for months now. it hasn't really been a big issue because i use mozilla anyway, but now i need to use IE to apply for student loans. some government sites only allow IE. i already have ad-aware and spybot search and destroy. no problems being detected. what can i do? is it safe to simply re-install internet explorer? i tried doing windows update and i'm pretty sure i have all of the service packs. anybody good with this kind of stuff? wakingrufus? you out there?

I'd say to just try and re-install IE. Considering you use Firefox most of the time, you shouldn't have much to lose by doing so, right? Either that, or just get your shit done in a computer lab or a library.

That's my suggestion as well. Using a library computer will be less frustrating.

If you're using Mozilla, you may have a corrupted user file. The only way I've ever fixed that is to uninstall Mozilla and re-install. :(

You're totally f*cked in the d*ck, man. If your Mozilla isn't quantifying with your coagulated hyperflux compacity then the only solution is to skankify your sonic reducer chips, dude...man, I've heard about this kind of stuff before but wouldn't wish it upon anybody. My condolensces...

While I agree with the above diagnosis, it might also be wise to check the connection on the flux capacitor. That was my problem a while back--now time travel's a breeze...huh, ohhh Internet Explorer! Sorry, as you were.

Weird. You can try a system restore to go back to a date that your IE did actually work.

What happens when you double click on IE?

Here's another thing to try. Double click on a folder you have on the desktop. In the "Address" bar, type in an internet address. What happens?

Lastly, download Hijack This! from here, run it, and post your results. I'm not guarnteeing I can find anything, but it'll give us a better look into what's going on with your registry.

nothing happens when i double click. nothing.

i've already used the address bar in explorer to go to a website and it works, but if i click a link a second window will not open and sometimes just clicking a link (that would open a new window) will make everything crash.

i'll try the hijack this thing...
