listening to Night at the Opera today and it hit me how stupid I was for turning down free Queen tickets just because I didn't want to hang out with the girl who was taking me

granted it was Paul Rodgers singing but still, Queen
Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

Pretty much what I was thinking.

I have two regrets that are similar to each other.

1) That I didn't drive like a maniac to NYC in 1981 and bust my way into Bond's Disco for all 15 Clash shows.

2) That I didn't haul ass to the 9:30 Club in D.C. in 2001 to see Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros.

I saw the Clash II in 1984. Good, but not the real thing.
I'm a nonconformist, too!

That I didn't haul ass to the 9:30 Club in D.C. in 1998 to see a surprise Radiohead show after the aborted Tibet concert. We heard about the show, then proceeded to sit around for 45 minutes and then get lost on the way to the venue. Idiots. That I didn't see Nirvana or Morphine when I could. That I didn't pay any attention to Destroyer when they opened for Calexico in 2002. Also all sorts of rare albums I've passed on buying over the years.

1. Had tickets to see Led Zep sometime in the 70s but couldn't talk parents (or anyone) into taking me to the gig.
2. Didn't feel like seeing the Stones later in the 70s when my whole gang went.
3. Never met Chris Whitley.
4. Was offered backstage passes for Huey Lewis & the News during the Sports tour and didn't take them.
5. Still haven't seen Tool do "Wings for Marie" and "Wings pt. 2"

I saw that at Allstate Arena. It was fun seeing Brian play guitar and do his solo, and seeing Roger at the drums, but I don't kid myself by thinking I saw anything resembling an actual Queen show.

Not being old to have seen Unwound on the Leaves Turn Inside You tour.

Damo Suzuki: So, um, yeah. Getting older isn't as bad as it sounds. Better than being young & poor (DjDrake) or young & slutty (SG) or young, poor and slutty (Paves); am I right?

Alright, my friends. It's time for another solid little rock jam

Spring 1990: not taking off work to see Nirvana at Metro. October 1991: taking off work to see Nirvana at Metro but not buying advance tickets. 25 October 1993: finally seeing Nirvana at the Monday Aragon show. I have lots of other musical regrets, but my history with Cobain & Co. is the standout.

-Missing Primal Scream on their XTRMNTR tour. Can't find any links now, but I've read reports that it was an incredible show/tour, but that, at least in Chicago, they were playing to a room less than half full. I shouldn't be surprised that they've never bothered to come back. -Punching that guy in the face by accident at the Flaming Lips concert. -Being born at the wrong time for all sorts of things in general.

For me, it's probably not going out to Calgary to see Radiohead in 98, which was the last time they played my part of the world. Oh, and missing Pavement in in 1994 when they came to my province.

5. Still haven't seen Tool do "Wings for Marie" and "Wings pt. 2"

They played it on the last leg, so hopefully they do the same in November!

The Pulp/Blur show at the Vic in 1994 is the only show I have ever felt really, really stupid for missing.

As far as passing up concerts(that's what this thread is about now, right?), I'm upset I didn't see the Ramones when I had the chance.

I want to say REM played a few songs too. Or at least Stipe showed up.

Not seeing Morphine on a New Years Eve '98 at the Riv because nobody I knew wanted to go. I'd gone to plenty concerts alone before that and have since. Don't know WHAT the hell I was thinking in late '98.

Not getting to the record store a day earlier in 2003. I was going to go shopping Friday night, but put it off 'til Saturday morning. Come Saturday morning, I notice a poster that Stars was playing here...the night before for $3. From what I heard from someone who was there, they're unlikely to come back as the place was almost empty, then whomever was there, cleared out after the local opening act, leaving less than 20 people to watch Stars.
