Count me in as another Krug supporter. Whether it's the melodies, the intricate song structure/arrangements, or the lyrics, SR is anything but "bland" or "whitebread." I mean, "Winged/Wicked Things" FTW here. For serious. Or even "The Mending of the Gown." That song's completely just like, holy shit. Nothing "standard" about that tune.

I'll jump on the same boat as Chrono and state myself as an avid fanboy of Krug. I can understand someone not enjoying the music but to say there isn't originality, melody, and musicality is just flat out wrong. Shut up and Random Spirit are both far reaches from one another, two different styles and monsters completely but the average Krug-hater will lump them into the same sound. as for loving bejar and mercer but not krug, I agree, this is just uncommon.
Download this EP I made. The songs are pretty close to where they should be. I colaborated with Brian Wilson and Thom Yorke and then we all fucked in my basement apartment. Thom has a really big dick suprisingly, and Brian Wilson cried the whole time, yelling "These moans are not in perfect harmonic unison". Anyway, it sounds like what you would imagine something from that situation sounds like.

yes, and i've been revisiting RSL lately, and i'm liking it more. maybe it's the fall weather, Caribou is now out of rotation and In Rainbows has sparked a desire for heavier, more substantial music. "stallion," a song i didn't like at first, is now one of my favorites.

Fine. I'm re-downloading Apologies To The Queen Mary, Shut Up I Am Dreaming, Random Spirit Lover, and Beast Moans. It's not that I ever disliked them, I was just extremely indifferent. If it's the same this time around, it's your ass, Chrono.

I am ready to say that after initially dismissing it, "Random Spirit Lover" is one hell of an album. It might be on par with "Apologies to the Queen Mary." might be.

I told you so.

All Fires is such my jam right now. Like a top 10 song of all time, that one. The lo-fi production, the muted acoustic strumming, the buzzing, simple and perfect synth line, the guitar flourishes, KRUG KRUG KRUG. I must've listened to this 150 times last year.

I seriously want to know what those Wolf parade and sunset rubdown lovers don't find immediatly and incredibly appealing about RSL. Krug takes so many ideas and not only attempts them but pulls them off with percision. The songs are dark and rewarding and the lyrics are again (objectively) great. Not only is it Krug in his best suit, its krug in his best suit and matching tie. what is there to complain about besides he "indulges in his whatever" cause thats all the guy is doing. I don't know how people can't like RSL if they were or are even somewhat fans of Wolf Parade's stuff or Shut Up, I am Dreaming. this in my opinion, towers above both releases with Mending of the Gown = I'll Belive in Anything (maybe), Wicked/Winged things > Stadiums and Shrines, RSL > whatever. ok, sorry.

I'd put it above Shut Up I Am Dreaming and below Apologies To The Queen Mary. About on par with Beast Moans.

when I really sat down and listened to appologies to queen, it twas not that great. it's way too clean for my liking. when I choose to listen to wolf parade, I always go for the EPs and I think thats why RSL sounds so good to me. It has a nice, cleaned up, DIY sound instead of mushy mush mush like beast moans or a golden shower like appologies to the queen. perfectly kinda shitty production. honestly. if Swan Lake do put out something else, I hope it doesnt sound so mushy.

Apologies > Beast Moans > RSL > Shut Up, as of right now. But not that the leaps in quality between them are so slim because they're already so high up there to begin with.

Will you be swimming in her pools, are you swimming in her pools, are you swimming in her pooooooools. Oooooo Ooooo OOOOoo This album is so intimate. I feel really connected to this album. Like really gayly. Like I want to have sex with the dudes that made it. Lousy Pictures/The National People's Scare/Killing Armies/Dear Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts EP version are my EP jams.

they seemed so dark in the EPs. Secret Knives is THE SONG. that song seriously is really good shit, and Modern World with it's cheep ass keyboard sound instead. Wits or a Dagger is fucking rock solid. that song might be one of the best songs they ever made but they shit it away from the "poppy" queen mary. I hope they fucking blow this song up when they do thier next album (Wolf Parade that is) Wow, this song is sweet. I could talk like this for hours about the same exact thing when it comes to this dude (these dudes) AND WHERE DID THE FUCKING HARMONICA GO DINNER BELLS??

I only listen to the EP Dinner Bells. So important. Claxxon's Lament from the Believer's comp. Frog Eyes acoustic cover. It's insane it's so good. A Day in the Life, a cover from Atlast Strategic, Dan's old band. Solid jam.

unheard by my ears. all of this you speak about. I didn't like the handsome furs stuff though, besides hearts of iron and not even the whole song. I don't know. seriously I want a swan lake that was what I expected...the best music ever put out in the history of things being sold. where was that? I need to listen to this shit again.

A-team, now philosocioties or what ever told me to listen again and I did and it didn't stick but I find myself always wanting to go back to beast moans. whats the deal? these guys should go back in time and work with phil elvrum. that would be great if swan lake was produced by him. throw some mirah in there for good luck and a good fuck. wow, I just invented the best music the world will never hear.
