Beast Moans was Somb boardsman Bruegel's #7 album of 2006. It are a fact.

it definitely stood out on second listen. Krug is moving on to different synth sounds apparently.

Chorizo, where does this rate in amongst the great Krugian landscape?

need a better quality rip but in terms of Krug songs not Beast Moans quality. middle of the Sunset Rubdown discog and middle of the Wolf Parade output, probably. hard to say though.

i'm starting my Spencer Krug megathread after i've had this album for a week.

new avatar time.

"Spider" is really good. Overall, not as blown away as I would have hoped. Feels like they're overcompensating for the maximalism of Beast Moans. It's still good and could grow on me, esp. w/ a better rip, but it definitely still isn't the record that I want them to make. I mean, Krug is my favorite musician, so this should at least be the best new record I heard today, and it isn't.

I'm not sure i would call it "overcompensating", but that maximalist/minimalist observation is bang on. Truthfully, this is what i thought the first SL album would sound like, and not the weird pseudo-ambient curveball that as Beast Moans (remember, i like BM...its just an odd little album and not really what anyone was expecting). While im only 3 tracks in so far, im really liking this new direction. Seems more Destroyer-esque in its clarity (production, not rip), which is hardly a bad thing.
I don't even get your t-shirts pun.

First impression: the world is not ready for the next Frog Eyes album. The thing is going to be a fucking monster. Mercer just keeps getting better. Spanish Gold, 2044 = Bushels '09.

whoops. i did mean his general songwriting style though. i anticipate much criticism of his tracks on this record as well as the next Frog Eyes disc. more than usual.

Digging this album quite a bit. I feel like this one is more consistent than BM as far as me liking everyone's songs. I can even tolerate Bejar's voice for once.
