I present Duffy.

Her new single "Mercy" is already on the Radio 1 Playlist, and her debut is out in March.
I'm in love.

she has a lovely voice. but she's really not doing anything all that interesting with it.
she sure is pretty though. i wonder how she'll go with adele's album dropping at the end of the month. i reckon the gossip rags in the uk should set it up as a 'blur vs oasis' style battle to take amy's crown.

I'm old enough to remember Mary Hopkin, 1960's Welsh songstress ("Those Were The Days"), McCartney project, and early Apple Records artist (my dad has the original vinyl album). You could no doubt add Char Church to Welsh birds list as well as Gwenno from The Pipettes.

So I'm thinking between Eve "Gwen Cooper" Myles and Duffy, some folks should get over their contempt of the Welsh female singers.
