This has long been a fave of mine. Picked it up on vinyl back when it was new ... I love the Notorious Byrd Brothers (if it were recorded by the Burritos) vibe some of it has.

Love, love, love these guys. I think Once We Were Trees is my favorite, mostly due to "By Your Side" and "The Sun Surrounds Me". I also really love J Mascis' playing on "Jugglers Revenge". But hell, both albums and the EP are awesome. A band meant to be heard on vinyl.
"Mellow... but not smooth... kinda shitty."
"Jimmy Buffett..."

And a band touring again (coastal only, thus far) and CONSTANTLY spouting off about how they have a new album in the works!

Love the band.

If you're new to Beachwood Sparks, you're probably not familiar with The Tyde either. They're definitely the most successful by-product of the group and have released three solid albums. It's also worth checking out out their wiki to find some of the other connections. Good music all around.

Thanks. I'll be on the lookout for The Tyde.

If anyone knows any other bands that sound similar post away.

How about the Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers or any other Gram Parsons project? Then you could ignore bands like Beachwood Sparks and The Tyde.

Balls...not a smart tone to your statement. You do realize there's plenty of us who are well aware of the artists you speak.

No harsh tone or assumption intended, simply a statement that if the original poster gave the Parsons et al records a listen, disposable bands like the ones referenced would no longer be that useful to him.

Yeah, why would you wanna listen to a band that makes really great songs who are influenced by an earlier generation of musicians. All good west coast psychedelic influenced folk-rock should have died in the 60's.

Pretty sure Beachwood played the Sub Pop 20 fest this summer.
