No thread yet about this fantastic band, new single "Grounds For Divorce" can be found here

Not a Wolf Parade cover. Good vocals. Rumbling, fuzzy bass line.
Nice bowl of Crunchy Nut you got here, pretty expensive as I recall.

A Damon Runyon reference is always a good thing.

I really like the new song. It'll be interesting to see how I take to the new album. I really liked Leaders of the Free World when it came Stateside, but I sort of fell out of love with it. After not listening to it for quite a long while, I listened to it once a few weeks ago and it sounded pretty good again. I'm hoping any attachment to the new one lasts longer.

Exciting news. Elbow are a fantastic, underrated band. And I hope that's not just Mancunian pride talking.

you didn't think "asleep in the back" or "cast of thousands" was a great album, as a whole? i can understand the 'great songs/singles' for "leaders", but not the first 2... doves, on the other hand, seem to specialise with great singles / middling albums.

Cast of Thousands is a pretty great album and Asleep in the Back isn't far behind. The latest one didn't really grab me for whatever reason, but I'm still interested to hear their new stuff.

Is this a UK release date, U.S. release date or both.

The blog makes reference to "fellow Manchester band" Doves. I thought Doves were from Ireland.

The release date is for UK only. It'll probably be a few good months before it comes to the U.S..

That's going to happen when the lead singer sounds like him. Not like there's much he can do other than to not sing, I guess.

I've actually never heard Elbow's first album, but didn't really care for Cast of Thousands. Hmm.

Oh, and I really like Doves. Albums two and three are pretty great. They need to announce their new album though finally. Too many bands are taking more than three years to release albums now and it's starting to irk me.

I fiddled with that this morning. The song reminded me of "Chariots of Fire."

sorry but c'mon

I just grabbed it but am leaving for a bit. If no one links it by the time I get back (which I'm sure won't be the case) I'll throw it up here. Really excited about this, what a good week for leaks (Supergrass, Clinic, Elbow)!
"The public are collectively fucking retarded." - tylerdurden74 "The world is filled with people who are no longer needed - and who try to make slaves of all of us - and they have their music and we have ours - theirs, the wasted songs of a superstitious nightmare - and without their musical and ideological miscarriages to compare our song of freedom to, we'd not have any opposite to compare music with - and like the drifting wind, hitting against no obstacle, we'd never know it's speed, it's power..."
