I'm trying to find an early remix of The Stone Roses "Fools Gold", as done by A Guy Called Gerald. Here's the catch: there's a Guy Called Gerald remix of "Fools Gold" on the last Stone Roses remix album, but that's not the version I'm looking for. The one I need had Fools Gold remixed with some Swing Out Sister track. Show me the depth of our collective geekery and come through on this one, SOMBies. Bless you.

A Guy Called Gerald's Top Won mix is the one on the remixes album. Must be A Guy Called Gerald's Bottom Won mix you are after I guess?
Nice bowl of Crunchy Nut you got here, pretty expensive as I recall.

nyuk. nyuk. It's a remix of "Fool's Gold" by The Stone Roses. It was remixed by A Guy Called Gerald. Probably 1990 or so. Within about a year of their first album's release. The song was mixed heavily with "Am I The Same Girl" by Swing Out Sister. The remix is referred to as "Fool's Gerald." There is another mix of "Fool's Gold" by A Guy Called Gerald (readily available on The Remixes CD), but it is NOT the same track (and does not sample the Swing Out Sister song). As far as I know, the one I'm looking for was only ever released on vinyl. I've never seen it listed in any discography, or included on any compilation.

I’m pretty sure the Bottom Won mix is the one with a vocal snippet from Voodoo Ray. I vaguely remember the mix Slackmo is on about - I think it was an unofficial white label. Ive got a feeling it also appears on this .

Ill consult my brother – “The Baggy Oracle”

I just spoke to my bro and he said good luck. To him it sounds like one of the dozens of Fools Gold white labels/bootlegs that emerged between 89 and 91. Just to further muddy the waters many were sold as being AGCG mixes despite having nothing to do with him (just to cash in on the success of his official mixes). He couldn’t remember the SOS one but he has got a version featuring James Brown samples and a prominent horn section.
