Was just listening to this, actually. Concluding a birthday mix I made for my dad with "What Are Their Names?".

Great album. Prefer Gene Clark's solo stuff overall though.
Nice bowl of Crunchy Nut you got here, pretty expensive as I recall.

Most definitely, however I rate this album as one of the great WTF? moments.

Gene Clark was consistent at least, Crosby had never approached this greatness and hasn't been within a galaxy since.

How this album managed to be this good is beyond me. Sure it had the greats playing on the record, but that doesn't automatically translate to a masterpiece.

"I'd Swear There Was Somebody Here" fucking haunts me.
I fully support people doing drugs on the streets. I'm sick and tired of people being selfish by doing drugs in the privacy of their own homes. Do it on the streets where you can share with your friends and neighbors. It's the Christian thing to do.

You just have to speak their language, e.g. replace "banger" with "solid."

So what is it you're digging here? The looseness? If you like that kind of languid spacey feel you could go for 'Everybody knows this is nowhere' by Neil young + Crazy horse, from the same scene at about the same time (Young is on The Cros record). Not sure what reference points you already have, don't see you talking about hippie stuff very often.

Tim Buckley Happy Sad

Yes.

Early Jackson Browne sometimes captures the wistful moody post-sixties Cali lyricism and beauty of this record. Try the first three records.
