It sounds good when you're coasting down a hill.

I'm listening to the 30-second clips now (thanks Solace) and it sounds, quite honestly, fucking fantastic. Dug the video, too. However, if you're going to have the dudes from Black Crowes in there, couldn't you at least have Kate Hudson, too?

^ decent web-rip of the album. Sounding good. Only picked through a few songs yet, but so far it's like what good "pop" Sigur Ros should sound like. 2nd song was nifty.

really excited to hear this, as the single is quite interesting. to me he "pop sigur ros" is kinda what they did w/ takk..., i think w/ this one we'll see a considerable change to their overall style and approach.

Their long songs on this album or their long songs in general?

This album. It's like they completely lost their ability to keep things interesting for that long. That, or I'm just tired of hearing the same old trick. Takk had the same problem. The shorter songs were the record's strength, but the it feel during shit like "Milano." I haven't listened to all of this one just yet, but I listened to "Festival" and "Ara Batur" and they just stink.

I'm really excited to hear this though I am holding out for a 192 kbps or greater rip. Between your comments and the single, I am approaching with caution.

I didn't have quite as strong a reaction to the long songs as Dark Heat... true, there's nothing earth-shattering about them... but, I wouldn't call them horrible. I'm liking this a lot so far!

Okay, I spoke too soon... Ara Batur is pretty bad (I hadn't gotten to all the strings and choirs when I posted last).

I like all the fast songs at the beginning, but it tends toward the slow and boring toward the end. Long songs are bad.

I'm listening to the stream on their website right now. The first song sounds like current Radiohead doing Animal Collective.
"LETS GET SOME FUCKING ENERGY UP IN THIS BITCH MOTHERFUCKERS! You are not resigned to a fate of slow, painful death. The world is not as Radiohead and Portishead see it. "Oh the suffering! Oh the suffering, I feel the weight of the world and all it's pain" FUCK YOU......Be the grizzly, tear some shit up, rather than tearing yourself up." -- Montana, 12/21/08

So unbelivably on point I'm shocked to admit it.

Long songs are bad.

Not if you're good enough to pull them off.
Every Sunday morning I wake up
I see you by your dresser doing your make-up
Fluttering a Chinese fan in a Knoxville fashion
All last night you tossed and turned
Your body was hotter than the night Richmond burned
You say you had a bad nightmare about tractor trailers crashing

And we know they are. The long tracks on Ageatis and () are great. I wasn't making a general statement about long songs, just these ones. They seem to miss the point on this album. "Ara Batur" is dreadfully boring for about seven minutes before launching into contrived and unsurprising catharsis. "Festival" is a better, but still suffers from because we have to wait five minutes for the interesting part.

The exciting parts of this album are for me, the short and fast songs. The rest is ground that they've already traveled with more vitality.
hey guys hows it goin

this is such a boring and disappointing group to me i want them to make a thrash-y speed-metal-esque EP under a pseudonym. i'd be really into them then.
