Monotonix are a 3-piece from Tel Aviv on Drag City. Guitar, drums, vocals. Saw them last night in London opening for the Silver Jews. They play on the floor like Lightning Bolt but with a lot more audience involvement, they sound like a hybrid of Cream and At the Drive In, they put on one of the most bracing shows I've ever seen. A short messy set saw the drum kit finishing up on the balcony. See them if you can.

D Berman said later that the SJs had adopted them because no other band in the world would go on after them. New album stands up well live, longish set with lots of hits, band was Bermans & the same chunk of Lambchop as before but much tighter and more confident than last time I saw them 2 years back.

When I found out they were opening for the Silver Jews it became my dream to go to a Monotonix/Silver Jews show. Thanks for the heads up.

just saw them last night and it was incredible. never pass up a chance to see them, ever. the lead singer jumped off two different balconies and the drum kit made its way through the parking lot. fantastic.
