"I know THAT'S right!"

Didn't know that one was common. I work with a couple black women in St. Louis who say it constantly. It didn't take long for a bunch of other people here to pick up on it and start using it. Now it's everywhere I turn in work conversation. i hate it.

_gate. The Watergate scandal was so named because it took place at the Watergate Hotel, not because tacking -gate onto the end of a word implies it's a scandal. Travelgate, Monicagate, Plamegate, it's endless. And stupid.

I never heard of this, so it is moot.

Never heard of this, either. Must be along the same lines as "You DIDN'T just say that!"

Here's my actual choice...."MY BAD."

Most of this is context, for me. In conversation, I don't pay a whole lot of attention to the use of cliche and crutch-phrase. In print and when media people do it, esp. radio people, it makes my skin crawl, as I know they were drilled against using that kind of terminology.

Way to role model that ignorance, guys, really.

In that light, add "brutal murder." Is there any other kind?

Gentle murder? Friendly and loving murder?

Referring to things as "the shit." Don't see how that's supposed to be complimentary, but in any case it's time to let this one go.

No, it'll be stupid, and we're already doing something stupid.

I understand why it would be used, I don't really laugh out loud unless it's some gutbusting shit but I can recognize when something has some degree of comedic value. I'll just fake a laugh though, it's less obnoxious.

a fake laugh is certainly called for in that situation. otherwise i take it as an insult. also, people who start off a sentence with "no offense" should all be murdered. brutally murdered.

I'm creaming my jeans over this kick-ass, amazingly awesome thread! It rocks! Brings the ginormous funny. It's the shit, my niggas! To harsh on it would be bogus. That would suck. And blow. And bite. I might have to brutally murder any hata who disses it. That'd be a clichegate of ginormous proportion. It'd fail massive. Peace out, yo!
