Why The Music Forum Is Dull

This perception was one of the single biggest hangups in those arguments... interesting to see it lives on.Last thing I need is somebody giving me an uptight lecture about how my criteria for enjoying music is wrong.
There are a lot of other issues like rockism that could be discussed, the SOMB is just more of a society-and-recommendations board than a hammer-out-the-issues place like ILX or something.

Well, truthfully it comes from both sides of the argument. I'm not going to get into it, I just think it's a silly argument to be had.

i'm pretty sure even the middle-aged bloggers have moved on from rockism vs poptimism by this point

The last thing I ever wanted the metal thread to be was alienating. I just didn't want to bombard the somb with thread after one-page thread about extreme metal bands. Anyone curious is more than welcome, discussions run the gamut, and the condescending snarkiness neophytes always dread is practically non-existent.As much as I love music, unless I really really love something I'm rarely going to make more than 3-4 posts about it. This makes the most mega-threads pretty much a no go area for me. I can take the point of people criticising the metal thread, lonely end of the dancefloor etc as potentially alienating. But thing I like about those threads is that the topic of conversation so often changes, making it easy to contribute.

You're right, on second thought I suppose that could be interpreted as putting you on either side of the argument.Well, truthfully it comes from both sides of the argument. I'm not going to get into it, I just think it's a silly argument to be had.

I'm afraid that I'll get a headache if I click on the thread. The last thing I ever wanted the metal thread to be was alienating. Still waiting for Slackmo to delete this thread.

There's no room in metal for irony.

Wait, Voivod and Type O Negative weren't ironic?
Damn, I got them wrong.
Please confine your snarky metal comments to the metal thread.

And in all fairness, anybody who honestly likes fucking Maladroit should be banned from the internet.

Damo Suzuki: So, um, yeah. Getting older isn't as bad as it sounds. Better than being young & poor (DjDrake) or young & slutty (SG) or young, poor and slutty (Paves); am I right?
Alright, my friends. It's time for another solid little rock jam

Besides, Honey Lingers and Helmet52 did have a hostile argument over the superiority of Neurosis vs. Isis.
Yeah, but it was short-lived, petty (on my part), and we kissed and made up quickly.
Nothing but love for my Somb metal brothers.
