I went through a few boxes of crap in my folks' attic this past weekend, digging around for my old children's books & whatnot. Found my high school 'permanent record' & spent hours poring over the paperwork. When students were sent to their counselors for disciplinary reasons my high school called them 'referrals' (sort of misleading) and I had a number of these. The offenses ranged from 'eating yogurt in the hallway' that resulted in two Saturday a.m. detentions, writing band names on my locker and my favorite: 'gross insubordination'. Apparently I refused to remove my ballcap in the hallway & then refused to hand over my student I.D. The teacher scribbled 'please throw book at him!' in the margin. Not exactly the street tough's resume, is it?

Anyone involved with or perpetrate something more grandiose? Larceny? Burning down the football field's scorebox?

Sounds like a stuffy time to be up in an attic. I wrote on school windows in butter once.

Still do, or did as of 2004.

I was an angel in high school.
Got caught drinking once freshman year, learned to keep it under control and go to parties at atheletes' houses, as they were all bro-y with the local police force. Thanks for keeping the Colt.45 malt liquor flowing, hockey team.

I received a referral from my nauseatingly flamboyant (and not in a good way) HS French teacher for "glaring." I wonder how you say "glaring" en Francais?

The other strategy was to go to parties, at those guys' houses, you know those guys who graduate and are like "I'm going to play music" but just live with their parents and throw their 23rd birthday parties for their high school bassist's friends? I loved that guy. Thanks for the Colt45 malt liquor AND the prom invite, bro.

I used to leave glass pop bottles under the table in the lunchroom rather than taking them back to the crate where the good friars in charge of my school collected them for eventual return and recycling. Apparently, this was a pretty serious deal, for when they caught me the wrestling coach was so livid, he grabbed me in a headlock during the middle of lunch and punched me in the face before sending me to the vice-principal's office. I walked out the lunchroom doors, then out the front doors and kept walking until I got home. (Only a couple miles.) I eventually had to serve a week's worth of detention for leaving school without permission, as the school felt all corporal punishment was fine and refused to censure the teacher for excessive force. So my Mom, who taught in public schools, told them that the next person who hit me I had permission to hit back until they wouldn't be hitting anyone ever again and said they'd see us in court if they had a problem with it. The wrestling coach was always nice to me after that. Still, should've known better than to mess around with a school which calls the vice principal the "Dean of Discipline."

Got sent to the principal twice in one day for hitting people. For someone reason, I don't remember anything about the 2nd visit except that I *did* go there a 2nd time. The last disciplinary "problem" I ever had was in 3rd or 4th grade when I thought it would be funny to purposely slip on a banana peel during the lunch hour. I was sent from my lunch table to "the stage" (our lunch room was also the gymnasium and the auditorium) where I had to stand to eat lunch for the rest of the period. Otherwise, I was the perfect little angel through my primary education.

I spent a pretty decent amount of time in detention/suspension my senior year of high school, but nothing I ever did (save the cutting class which landed me an in-school suspension, i suppose) was all that bad. Actually, the worst things I did, namely leaving a classroom when the third part of an exam I was promised would only have two parts was presented to me and walking straight into another classroom to complain about it to an entire calculus class for fifteen minutes, I didn't really ever get in trouble for.

I ditched classes like crazy and hung out in the music area. Got away with it 'cuz you could sign in at the library or other various tricks the school clamped down on a few years later. There's now an automated voice message that calls your house for any period you are marked absent. Report cards are printed now, no more pencil editing grades. How do the kids survive?

Hey, was the spraypainted Gorilla Biscuits & 7 Seconds graffiti still on "The Path" when you were there? Towards the end before you get to North Building?

I was involved in a plot to steal a widely hated art teacher's incredibly creepy stuffed owl. It went off without a hitch, although most of the risk was assumed by others. We buried it in a field. Considering that he was fired at the end of that school year, we now feel relatively confident that it was indeed the source of his evil powers.

I did a suplex on a boy once but I was mostly a good kid. My school history mostly consists of humiliation (nudity!) tbh. My crowning glory was probably getting into a full blown argument with this teacher in front of a whole common room after some of us were accused littering or something. I told her there was no need to shout since I was standing right in front of her.
