ITEM: Universal Pictures has just finished principal photography on a $100-million adaptation of "Land of the Lost," the mid-1970s Krofft show about a family stranded in a jungle teeming with dinosaurs and hissing reptile-men called Sleestak.

At least it's not another sports farce. Which sports/games haven't been featured in Ferrell/Sandler/Stiller films? I think the only one left is pinball. If anyone does a lame pinball comedy, blood will be shed.

I'm always grateful when a comedian extends the "dopey comedy" era of his filmmaking career. It makes the "serious actor" phase more forgivable.

That film isn't in the vein of wacky Ferrell films. I shall spare their lives.

Ferrell was a capable supporting comedian/in small roles. I found him funny in bit parts like the first Austin Powers, very funny on some SNL moments, and funny in smaller roles, such as Wedding Crashers. He pulled off Elf. Since then, I've gotten very tired of his rinse-repeat humor. It doesn't sustain a film, at least not for me.

I was really hoping for good YouTube footage of you catfighting Brooke Shields, too. Bummer.

But you'll look, every time, just to see if he says something that makes you mad. I always used to when I had you on Ignore.

Are my comments so inflammatory? If I blocked everyone who disagrees with me when I decide to praise Tom Cruise, I'd probably be talking to..a very, very select few. :P

I remember when ABC tried re-airing this on Saturday morning when I was a kid - I thought it was dopiest, cheapest looking show on the planet, then a year later, after it was yanked off the air, I found out it was supposed to be a Saturday morning classic. I was like, wtf, kids back then actually LIKED this shit? Having said that, I didn't think Transformers would make that much $$, so maybe this will be the biggest movie of next year.

I will say this: As someone who hated Talladaga Nights, and thought Blades Of Glory was pretty bad, and didn't even bother to see the basketball one, Stepbrothers is pretty decent. Saw it with the wife last night and laughed a lot.

i feel like i'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. loved talladega nights, thought blades was mediocre and hated (HATED) step brothers. it was crude and graceless. i laughed, sure, but i could feel my brain shriveling from the experience. it was a great concept, but a terrible, terrible execution. i'm an easy lay when it comes to movies, and even at a free screening, i felt cheated by step brothers.

semi-pro, however, gets a bad rap. movie is better than average, with a strong cast and a surprising amount of heart. it's more traditional than the mckay-ferrell films, and maybe the better film for it.
