Agreed about Coolrock, Bill. His posts are wondrous reads, sure. The man is a story machine and has quite a way with words. But outside of the occasional lengthy tale about snorting blow out of Stevie Nicks's asshole whilst writing the entire Eagles discography and not getting a single ounce of credit for doing so, he barely boards, in any sense of the word.

Anyways, Bill's list is about as definitive as we're going to get here, with some minor (er, not really) omissions. Might as well lock the thread.

Coming out of retirement briefly to post my list, a few of them so far have been uniformly strong and it's good to know that while the SOMB has been experiencing an almost Simpsons-esque decline in quality recently, people are still aware of and have a fond remembrance for classic posters. I would like to return Paves sentiments in regards to ranking each other as I could not possibly put him on a objective list, just assume he would be something beyond #1 that no Undo or Good Dr. Bill could ever hope to achieve. Unfortunately, while I myself have become synonymous with the board I will be the first to admit that I am relatively new to the board in general, only really beginning to make a name for myself in mid-2005, this was a point where Hickman's tyranny on the board had subsided for the most part and we were under Good Dr. Bill's benevolent reign, to me, that era will always represent the golden age of the SOMB. Keeping my relative "newness" in check, I submit my humble list of the greatest boarders I have seen grace our small little corner of the internet. 1. The Good Dr. Bill 2. coolrock = mad overrated, for a guy who only posts three times a year and probably a third of those posts are hit or miss, he's hardly worthy of all the praise you people give him. Coolrock is a really great writer but even his style of writing really isn't suited for posting on a message board. Sometimes I don't even know if he's aware if anyone else even posts here and he accidentally opens this board to write on instead of his blog or something. storytelling and comedic prowess isn't all there is to being a good boarder. You need to have a distinct sense of style and uniquely entertaining interactions with your fellow boarders. People like Nick, Yancy, or Sickpup have this down to a science. Of course, the guy talks about fucking and dicks and assholes in most of his stories and you guys just eat that up like it's fucking candy, probably the reason any of you think of me as more than some prick on the internet.
