"After much thought into this, I have finally come to a conclusion as to why the ‘Meet the Spartans’ commercial is so funny:

It is an interesting choice to have Sanjaya sing ‘I’m not gay,’ as his final words on earth. As he is plummeting into a seemingly bottomless pit, he does not say ‘dear god no,’ ‘I love you mom,’ or even simply ‘argh.’ He instead takes the moment to reaffirm to the world, in spite of their doubts, that he is not a homosexual. Not only that, but he continues to sing, despite falling to his certain death. The distinct lack of plausibility of this situation is what produces giggles from our mouth. It is the antithesis to the belief that ‘it’s funny because it is true.’

The ratings are somewhat arbitrary and unimportant, but these are a few of my favorite things. 1. Issachar/Izzy -- The best friend I've made on the board. He doesn't spend much time around here anymore and the board is worse for it. 2. Tweed -- A real gentleman and a great musician. If tweed posts, it's worth reading. 3. YellowGrrl -- The sweetheart of the rodeo! 4. EricMaloney -- We learned more from a 3-minute record than we ever learned in school. 5. Skippy -- Come on, what can you say about skippy? If it weren't for Jasmine, he'd be the sweetheard of the rodeo! 6. Elc -- The only person nicer than elc is his wife! Great guy, and incredibly generous with the tunes. 7. mouthbreather -- The keeper of the music side of the board. Time for lunch at Mr. A's, mb? 8. Bobzilla -- Okay, the other keeper of the music side. I wish I was half as cool as this guy! 9. Maztrax -- not a big poster, but a great guy and band leader. Incredibly generous with his time/ideas when I first started booking shows for my son's band. 10. ladytron: the tv series -- aka Lady Thunderhoss. ;) 11. Ryan -- perhaps the funniest SOMBie ever. 12. Voodoodaddy -- he's gone quiet lately, but another great guy. If you don't have his "Know Your Product" mix, you're missing out. 13. SkinnyHips -- In many ways, the heart and soul of the board. 14. Yancy -- Other than his terrible taste in shoes ... 15. Freddie Freelance -- In addition to being a great boarder, the biggest supporter of SOMB musicians. 16. TJENZ -- Although it can't be proven, I think he buried Hickman under the 50 yard line at the new Soldier Field. 17. Sin City -- All these new, would-be smart asses on the board should really spend some time with this guy. They might learn something. 18. Jimmy TKB -- My rockabilly brother! 19. Trails/Rob Gordon -- Rob brought some fresh life to the board at a time it really needed it. You don't have any siblings, do you? 20. Simakos/Slackmo -- okay, if TJenz thinks elc and me are the same guy, can I claim the same for these two? Only kidding! :P 21. Elemeno P.T. -- Wonderful guy and host of more than one SOMB mix exchanges! 22. By-tor -- this guy is aces! Post more, would ya? 23. Saskadelphia -- You know, Sasky and I have different tastes in music, but I still find it worthwhile to read what he has to to say even if I don't like the music! 24. theremin -- Lake County Unite! 25. rogermexico -- the man has great taste in music! 26. undo 27. Agrimorfee 28. Biggoofysmartass 29. Jess 30. CopyrightQ -- (I miss CQ) 31. bobandbob -- (I learned more about jazz from 2Xbob than anyone else. The SOMB's Professor of Music.) 32. Hewletts Daughter 33. Some Girl 34. Vivian Darkbloom 35. Sid Hussein Hartha 36. wakingrufus 37. birdistheword 38. Biggie McSmalls 39. lovevigilante 40. Binko 41. Damo Suzuki 42. kmac/without opinion 43. JennyPenny 44. BHickman -- Fuck you, BHickman! 45. Okcompinkerton/Sherriff Sam/cpl-593h EDIT: Shit, I'm already realizing I missed some. ... I'll be back to ammend/fix later.

whatever, i'd be fine if everyone took me off their list (though clearly i am a great and excellent boarder) i am just compeltely against a popularity contest, in any respect. shrug.

oh c'mon, like you're not as curious as the rest of us to see whether the board's mistress (Jess) and the board's princess (SG) have a chance against the board's Tina Fey for Top Femme honors
