If you have been assigned a blurb and aren't going to complete it, PM me as soon as possible. Also, if there is anyone else who wants to write a blurb, PM me too. There are at least two that still need to be taken care of (and none of the people that have already volunteered to write another voted for either of them).
Here is who I am still waiting on:

They're bad, but String Cheese Incident are much, much, much worse.
Don't forget the sugar version of them- OAR. Awful bands.
I'm not a Phish fan, but there are worse things in this world than Phish(and way worse within their own subgenre). The fact that I have huge jazzhead/good music listening friends that love Phish tells me that they aren't shit, they just aren't my thing.
Umphrey's Mcgee is Phish with half the personnel and 10x the pretension.

Montana?Awful band - belongs close to the top of every Worst Groups list ever made. A novelty group that never realized the novelty ran out in 1990.

I voted for TMBG, so certainly I won't say "novelty band." Gotta disagree with you on John Henry, though. That's really where the band started to lose me. I appreciate their trying to expand their sound, but the majority of that record is boring standard-issue mid-90s alt-rock, devoid of the quirky/unique qualities of the band. It's like they suddenly decided it was a good idea that they start sounding like every other alt-rock band at the time, as the genre was so huge at the time. I really think they sacrificed a lot of what made them great. There's still some good songs and everything, but it was a huge disappointment to me personally. I actually stopped buying their albums altogether...
Diesel takes the words of out of my mouth. Now that I have a kid, I'm gonna get their kiddie catalog (No!, etc.) and take along the discs I have already own for the long car trips to Grandma's. Maybe you didn't grow older, Diesel, perhaps they did.

I'd go with Dubnobasswithmyheadman.Yeah, great to see Otis this (relatively) high.
I really need to listen to some Underworld. I always mean to, but I never know which album to start with.
Me too. If "Born Slippy" makes my heart beat faster, what's album's best to try--Second Toughest?
I actually prefer Second Toughest..., but it's really proggy and less of the palpitating. Not that Dubnobasswithmyheadman is like 'Born Slippy'. Just less unlike it.
And FNM in the top 100. Thank heavens for the small victory...

#100. TMBGiants (470 Points, 9 Votes, 1 #1 Vote)
Although Flansburgh and Linnell were building a cult following, they had a hard time getting a record deal, so they set up Dial-A-Song -- a phone line that played songs on an answering machine -- as a way to get their songs heard. The gimmick worked. Not only did it lead to a deal with the indie label Bar/None, but over the years it was a successful venture; at one point, the service was receiving hundreds of calls a day.
some bands are lucky to get a single on the radio much less find an audience. TMBG really did something rather unique by going this route. Despite the displeasure of some, I've always thought of them as very inventive despite the rudamentory formula.

(still love ya)
Sometimes Montana's abbreviated judgements are a good model.
Sometimes they're not.

This from the man whose short answer to my hatred of TMBG was "Fuck you."
Fuck you, pal.
