Steve Reich

SOMBies Say
:

"i first heard his stuff when i heard 'new york counterpoint' performed live in college with 23 clarinetists and haven't gotten enough since... i'm also a huge fan of 'eight lines' - i've gotten both of these stuck in my head before, so i'd say very accessible... and i also dig 'music for 18 musicians'" - jeremy c.

"I dont get you guys... do you actually listen to steve reich? Cause in sound class it was cool and while trying to figure out my own place in the music world, it was fun. But actually sitting down to listen to it.... or driving with it???? im not so sure..." - BGwaves

Paul, Thanks a bunch for the extension as my Blurb is coming along, but I definitely would have turned in a semi-final draft had I done so tonight. But I'm getting close and with my mix too.

When I post the sheet with all the point totals at the end of the countdown, some of the bands placing in this range will make a little more sense.

Every Sunday morning I wake up
I see you by your dresser doing your make-up
Fluttering a Chinese fan in a Knoxville fashion
All last night you tossed and turned
Your body was hotter than the night Richmond burned
You say you had a bad nightmare about tractor trailers crashing

While this thread has been massively entertaining so far (outstanding work by Paul), a good many of the picks have been dead-on trainwrecks.

I guess it's symptomatic of the high-number outliers.
Wtf @ theminimuncircus retardly interjecting.

Who the fuck is Unrest, where do I start with them, and why did I think they were an electronic act? This sounds like something right up my alley.

I don't know, I think Sparklehorse's ranking is pretty right on (and yes, Monty, I have heard them). Good band, but not top 100 material.

They belong up with where Portishead will rank.

As for the Jayhawks, they are the best alt.country band of the 90's, and yes, better than Wilco at their peak. But alt.country is completely ignored on this forum due it it's urban nature.

Montana is The Rural Juror.

Hanoi Rocks

SOMBies Say
:

"One of the best shows I've ever seen was the Hanoi Rocks show I saw at the El Mocambo in Toronto mere days before the death of Razzle. Michael Monroe had a broken leg and Andy McCoy was right wasted, but boy oh boy, were they a powerful live band." - Gbro

"Cool to see a Hanoi Rocks fan here. Great band. Bangkok Shocks Saigon Shakes Hanoi Rocks is one of my favorite albums ever." - Pavement Ist Rad
