"One of the best shows I've ever seen was the Hanoi Rocks show I saw at the El Mocambo in Toronto mere days before the death of Razzle. Michael Monroe had a broken leg and Andy McCoy was right wasted, but boy oh boy, were they a powerful live band." - Gbro

Lucky bastid. This band was so close to greatness. Thanks, Vince Neil. <_<

so what was #301 that would have made it?

Elvis at 250. I get it though. He didn't make my top 50. I still contend that if you have a band and you don't have a little Elvis vibe in it. Your sunk.

Any way to go back and fix this at a later time?

Really interesting so far, enjoying the format a lot. Its a little late, but here is a little story about me and Low. Alan Sparhawk (sp?) used to work where I'm trying to get a job (my friend says he likes to come and hang out at random and chitchat). I'm going to do something terribly embarrassing if I do get a job there and see him, I'm so excited and can't wait. Another anecdote about Steve Reich: A music teacher at my schools response to being asked what he thought about Reich: "You're like what, 18? 19? Now is the time in your life to be listening to Steve Reich! Go! Now! LISTEN!! It will be meaningless later!" To offer some encouragement: Can't wait to see the rest, keep up the good work!

I may not have agreed with all the placements, but this list made sense given the sensibilities of the board. That is, until #258, since then every pick has just been completely bizarre.

This thread came at the perfect moment. I haven't had a reason to constantly refresh the SOMB in a while. I'm shocked and embarassed to admit how many of the bands I either haven't heard or haven't even heard OF. Sparklehorse is one of those bands that I've always meant to check out and never did, so I DL'ed some of their stuff last night and it's rad as hell. Keep it comin, Paul. Epic thread.

Eh, I'm not sure they're urban enough to warrant that high a placement.

Who else voted for him besides me?!

maybe no one. I can't recall seeing any other votes for Patty Griffin besides my own, so I kinda suspect this is the part of the list where those artists with only 1 vote but a #1 vote wound up - 200 is a lot of points, y'know. Did you vote Whitley #1?

great job so far Paul. Way to go!
Sail Away: The Songs of Randy Newman -7.5/10
Dusty Springfield - Dusty in Memphis 8.5/10
Buddy & Julie Miller - Written in Chalk wow, first listen, but great great record! 9.3/10
Justin Townes Earle - Midnight at the Moviessurprisingly great, never picked up his past releases, but this one's knocking my socks off right away, 8.7/10
M. Ward - Hold Time 8.0/10
Neko Case -Middle Cyclone her best I've heard is my initial impression, but too soon to rate, haven't had a really good listen yet 7.8/10
