I have seen them on every tour with Brian Johnson(13 times) and you god damn right I will see them in Chicago. It is true, the Bon Scott days are un-fuckable with. He was,is and ALWAYS be the greatest frontman ever. But if none of you youngsters have a chance to see them, it is the best rock n' roll jukebox you get in concert and you will leave with a big smile on your face....

am i reading that correctly...ac/dc has only toured 13 times since johnson joined the band? damn that seems low.
We go 0 to Dennehy in three seconds or less.

Well said. One of the greatest live bands ever. I've been lucky enough to see them twice, but not since 1988. They've stopped touring Canada extensively, which is a shame, because they could easily play stadiums, they're still that popular. Maybe even moreso now, especially out west.

I read somewhere that wall-mart basically bought 3 million copies from ac/dc.

That is the same sort of deal they had with Eagles (and I think Garth Brooks when he was an exclusive). WM buys a shitload of them so they get a good deal, then they can sell them for $11.88 and still make money. It also guarantees that WM will do anything to sell them, because if they don't they can't return them or sell them back to the band (see the Garth Brooks boxsets being marked down again and again to get rid of them).

Didn't say AC/DC fans were more computer/music savy - said I think Wal Mart shoppers are no more likely to be computer illiterate.

In big cities, probably true. In the hundreds or thousands of WalMarts scattered throughout smalltown America, false. And I say this with no malice--I just don't think the average dude in Lickskillet KY is logging onto hype machine or usenet or even Amazon, but he damn sure knows who AC/DC is and might pick up their new album when he's buying diapers.

I read that 3 million figure too, in an interview with someone--can't remember where though.

The new song rocks. Then I stayed to listen to "Thunderstruck" and about 30 seconds in was wondering why there was any question I'd see them on this tour :D

Their music isn't constantly in your face, like 'You Shook Me All Night Long' is.

MMJ don't have a full out rock song that good. That's part of the problem. That riff and beat is legend. There's no queston that MMJ is a very interesting band, but what AC/DC does is write multi-facted, succinct powerful rock songs. It's the difference between the Obama camp saying "McCain doesn't know how many houeses he owns", and John Kerry giving a twenty minute dissertation on policy issues.

If MMJ came out with such an amazing riff combined with ear shredding vocals like that, their shit would be played at sporting events and on classic rock stations as well.

I can't believe this move is all about the money for them, though...they never license their music. They're not even on iTunes, for Pete's sake.

ESPN's College Football coverage had a buttload of AC/DC this weekend. Mainly only heard 'Rock and Roll Train' and 'For Those About to Rock...', but it was pretty relentless (no other music at all really) and it definitely looks like they're putting the promotional juggernaut into first gear.

If somebody could promise me they would play "Riff Raff" or "Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be," then I would go. But the four AC/DC shows I've been to have pretty much had the same set list, just slightly reshuffled. I know it's AC/DC and not some jam band, but is it too much to ask to challenge the audience a little?

As I said earlier in this thread, I have seen them on every tour with Brian Johnson and you are correct. They played Down Payment Blues on the 96 tour and almost shit myself but still not the same with out Bon. Would love if they played the following:

-Dog Eat Dog
-Night Prowler - it would be sacrelege to her this without Bon but I dont think this has ever been played live
-Rock n Roll Damnation
-Guns for Hire - I think "Flick of the Switch" is very underrated as a recording. Like it better than For Those About to Rock...which they can do without ending the show with.

In a lot of ways, this is all that I ask of an AC/DC live performance.

I certainly would shit myself if I were ever able to witness this.

Damo Suzuki: So, um, yeah. Getting older isn't as bad as it sounds. Better than being young & poor (DjDrake) or young & slutty (SG) or young, poor and slutty (Paves); am I right?

Alright, my friends. It's time for another solid little rock jam

They have "rock" in four song titles. Awesome.

We need more bands that sing convincingly about rock and the process of rocking. Bit of a lost art these days.

It is indeed. You get quite a bit of partying, but little overt rocking.

And huh. I didn't even realise they had done an album after Ballbreaker.

We're kinda lucky here in Perth (Bon's grave is here) in that every time the guys play here, Bon Scott's mother gets called out onto stage. Quite sweet actually.

AC/DC albums used to get louder on vinyl as they played along. I think my bud Mitch played me one during a RISK game in my youth and it clearly got louder. Can't remember the album, though. I always thought that was cool.
