cursory look at '87 from rateyourmusic:
Anything from Sign O' The Times, but "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man" is my go-to.
"Alex Chilton"
"Disturbance at the Heron House"
The Cure - "How Beautiful You Are"
The Housemartins - "Me and the Farmer"
Danny Wilson - "Mary's Prayer"
The Connells - "Over There"
The Silencers - "I See Red"
Hoodoo Gurus - "What's My Scene"
Level 42 - "Running in the Family"
and hell yes, Lou Gramm - "Midnight Blue"
These are all great. God, I used to love the Housemartins. Haven't thought about them in years.

And Keith Richards' first solo record with the X-Pensive Winos, Talk is Cheap. Great record.

"I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man"
Just put this ten times in a row. Killer 87-88 mixtape.
In all seriousness, can't think of a lot to add that hasn't been said. And yeah, Talk is Cheap is a great, fun record. Something from that. And Alphabet St. from Prince's Lovesexy (1988) is not to be brushed aside. Damn that was already posted. See, I can't think of anything else...

At least you didn't remember Cher's "If I Could Turn Back Time" or Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven Is a Place Called Earth"
And how could I forget Motorhead's "Eat the Rich"?
