pretty good record indeed. not sure if it'll make my top 10 of 08 yet, but it's not out of the question. my main issue with it is that although its not even that long it still feels really difficult to get through the record in one sitting. i wish it was a bit more focused. but yeah, there are some stunners and it's just a joy sonically, as most pierce albums usually are.

This is true. Sometime around "Baby I'm Just A Fool" I start to get a bit restless. I think it's all those Harmony bits at the end, every other track and whatnot.

i find this to be the easiest Spaceman album to get through, actually.

I am gonna go ahead and say that Songs in A & E is better then Ladies and Gentlemen.

I cant wait to see these songs live tomorrow.

no way is A+E better than L+G...., but to each their own i guess. i have to admit, i'm woefully ignorant of their career before L+G (which i know is a huge spiritualized faux pas)

Especially if you like the long, drowny bits of blissed-out shit, which the first two albums are chock-full of (and they're fucking awesome)... I'm just assuming this fact because of your comment about the Harmony tracks, apologies if I'm off base or anything.

I think Nagode might be trying to get rid of a ticket also. Does anyone know if there's an opener? It doesn't look like it so am I to assume the show starts right at 8?

Grand Ole Party is opening. Sound alright on their myspace, but I am guessing the real show won't start until closer to 9.

Anyone going tonight--give some love to openers Grand Ole Party. They're good friends of mine from San Diego and they're pretty new to the national touring circuit. So far they've opened for Rilo Kiley and played shows with the likes of Vampire Weekend. Not exactly at home on a Spiritualized bill musically, but worth your time nonetheless. Moreover, they're great people and anyone who knows what it's like to be on tour knows how far a bit of good vibes can go.

I'll be at the Minneapolis show, and I'm very much looking forward to reuniting with my friends. :)

That's where I recognized them from. Their name at least, don't think I made it in time to catch any of their set. Since there's no Cubs game tonight I'll prly get to Metro early enough to see a couple songs from them.

Pretty excited for this. Got even more excited once I realized my drive/parking experience wouldn't be as hellish due to there being no Cubs game. I'm bringing a friend of mine who has never really heard Spiritualized with the extra ticket I bought. Possibly another convert by the end of the night.
