So I am really liking this new Giant Sand, Provisions, and I have that Howe Gelb solo effort from a few year back, but would like to broaden my horizons on this band. It seems like a lot of their albums are really well reviewed and their discography is pretty large so anyone who so feels moved to do so please post any thoughts on this band, favorite albums or whatever else. Thanks!

I have totally fallen off from listening to them in the last few years, but my favourite is definitely 'Chore of Enchantment'.

If the Howe Gelb album you own isn't 'Sno Angel Like You, do yourself a favor and get it, as it was my favorite album of 2006.

Very spotty discography. Chore of Enchantment is probably the best place to go next. Howe's 2001 record Confluence is worth hearing as well.

If you can find them, Glum and Center of the Universe are both fantastic but are long long out of print. In fact, I'd probably put Glum as the #1 choice in the canon.
