Okay, so Jay-Z's "The Blueprint 3" is scheduled for a December 3rd release. Besides knowing that it will be better than Kanye's, what can we expect out of this? So far, three tracks have been leaked, and four have been announced. Best kept secret? Or will it flop?

Here's his new leak, "History." Produced by Kanye (of course). Why can't Kanye have this type of production on HIS new album?

Jay-Z - History

I'm sure everyone interested in this thread has heard Jockin' Jay-Z and S.L.U.

Thoughts?

i'm mixed on history. on the one hand, this sounds like soft-rock rap, on the other, it has a majestic quality that transcends the initial cheesy feelings. i mean, i really like this song a whole lot, i'm just not sure i like myself for liking it. that said, i hope bp3 is more in this vein than jocking jay-z. that song wasn't bad for a blatant a millie rip-off, but it was embarrassing in that older rapper trying too hard kind of way. if de la soul put out a song that sounded this tight, i'd be psyched. but from jay, i'm much less impressed. and s.l.u. pt. 2 remains to be seen. will it have the same beat? i hope not. the rumors of a nas and andre 3k on the track excite me, but the inclusion of jeezy (though i do love him, he just isn't worthy of inclusion) and officer ross put a damper on my enthusiasm.

I thought Jockin Jay-Z sucked ass, and History sounds pretty good. Haven't heard SLU, didn't know it leaked. I expect the album to not be anything special, as Jay-Z has a way of not following up on greatness. Has he ever released two great albums in a row? It's like it takes a shitty album to make him put out something good, and then he takes a vacation after a good one. And since American Gangster was one of his best, I expect the follow-up to not get 'er done. But of course I'd love to be wrong.

Man, I still can't stop spinning American Gangster. An impeccable album. I am thrilled about the new Blueprint, but this new track, even though it has its moments doesn't sound very convincing.

His first six albums were good. Everything from Reasonable Doubt to The Blueprint was gold. The Blueprint 2 was his first weak album, in my opinion. His second weak album (and only other one, at this point) was Kingdom Come. I think The Blueprint 3 will be a classic. I have liked everything I have heard so far, and I don't think I will be let down by Jay-Z. I rarely am.

Kanye Explains 'Blueprint 3 Delays,' Next Album

Although speculation was widespread that Jay-Z would be releasing The Blueprint 3 this year, the Brooklyn emcee practically confirmed that it would not be coming out in 2008. Kanye West, who is producing at least a portion of the album, spoke on the matter.

"I mean, it's phenomenal," said 'Ye, according to MTV News. "We went in and we done the whole album. He wanted to do a few more joints, so he kinda pushed it back. Now we're gonna go in and just work on some more records. So I got some more stuff to kill it with! I think [Jay pushed the album back because] 'Swagger' just did so incredible. We wanted to go up [and make sure] everything was on that level."

Kanye also took some time to discuss the the initial follow-up to Graduation, Good Ass Job. Ditching the school theme for 808s & Heartbreaks, Kanye hasn't decided whether he would return to his originally planned LP at some point.

"Well, I wouldn't put the pressure on myself to do another album; it's like whatever happens, happens. I'm still thinking of a lot of music. I mean, I'm thinking of a lot of lyrics, and if it comes to me, I just go into the studio and do it and then drop it now. So it's not a whole bunch of gimmicks and marketing, I let the other people do the marketing. ... I'm just like, 'Dude, just figure out how to put the music out.' "
