Oh, Complain, you live up to your name. Credit you for upping his discography for me, much kowtows and kudos deserved...<virtual bows to Groucho avatar>

But I knew of him way before SOMB--I liked his stuff only on the strength of accidentally hearing TWO SONGS, but had no idea where in the hell I could find it.

:P Couldn't resist. I still think Diesel should check out the Chagall Guevara disc - a lot of it reminds me of Bob Mould sonically.

All my life i wanted to be black.
Until i saw your picture, now i wanna be you.

A few that come to mind: Flower Travellin' Band Exploding Hearts Jay Reatard Burzum Earth Hanoi Rocks Sparks My appreciation was deepened / renewed for: Kinks (Elc) Springsteen, rockabilly, old r&b / soul (norton) Petty - deep cuts, late period Rush (bobandbob) Sid Hartha has turned me on to many obscurities like Love Sculpture, Q'65, Outrageous Cherry... and furthered my Pollard obsession with his many side projects. I'm always curious about what Bobzilla, Paves, Sask, Avec, held, simakos, ryan, mitch, rob gordon, aftershock, huckle, dicorice... and several others are listening to.

Every Sunday morning I wake up
I see you by your dresser doing your make-up
Fluttering a Chinese fan in a Knoxville fashion
All last night you tossed and turned
Your body was hotter than the night Richmond burned
You say you had a bad nightmare about tractor trailers crashing

Xiu Xiu (thanks to the Hungarian ex-pat who wrote a nice letter packed with foreign ephemera in addition to the CDR of A Promise...who are you again? So sorry)

Read all of my stupid song parodies here. Latest song improved/ruined: "Barbara Ann" by The Beach Boys.

There have been a lot, but the biggest for me is probably New Order. I went from only knowing "Blue Monday" to loving pretty much every track on Substance.

Yesterday I was just thinking about how back in 2004 (2005?) everyone on the Internet was obsessed with Gang of Four and how nobody even mentions them today. I still have a CD of Entertainment! on my shelf that I probably haven't played since I moved in here.

I doubt I would have purchased it if I wasn't spending so much time here back then.

Looking back, I think the artist that I can say I love that is 100% because of the SOMBies is M. Ward. And while I would hardly say that SOMB has turned me on to The Replacements, but I think the first time I really really listened to Let it Be was because of the 80's poll.

OK, well today I have this board to thank for Flipper. Generic Flipper, to be exact, and "Sex Bomb" to be even more so. I don't know where this song has been all my life, but it's here now, and I feel good. Wow.

Damo Suzuki: So, um, yeah. Getting older isn't as bad as it sounds. Better than being young & poor (DjDrake) or young & slutty (SG) or young, poor and slutty (Paves); am I right?

Alright, my friends. It's time for another solid little rock jam
