A new poll by Rolling Stone magazine dethrones Elvis Presley as the king by ranking him Number 3 on the list of all-time greatest Rock 'n' Roll singers.

See who made Number 1 and Number 2. Do you agree, or are there others on the list (or not on the list) who deserve the Number 1 and 2 positions?

Elvis will always be number one. David Bowie, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop should be in the top 10.

You're overthinking this.

No, it'll be stupid, and we're already doing something stupid.

Singer is difficult. There are some very talented singers who's music I do not enjoy. ie Mariah Carrey. Best frontman would be more a more interesting poll.

Freddie f'ing Mercury.

He could do anything.

He could not get married, in most of the United States.

Apart from write a song anyone other than a person permanently mired in their junior high pretension would want to hear. No offense, Ag, but the man wrote melodramatic schlock.

To paraphrase the Firesign Theatre, "But it's good schlock, Mrs. Preske!" :P But I believe this thread subject is about Great Singing, not Great Songwriting (even if Freddie was responsible for writing a few good tunes)

Thom Yorke.
Few beings have ever been so impregnated, pierced to the core, by the conviction of the absolute futility of human aspiration. The universe is nothing but a furtive arrangement of elementary particles. A figure in transition toward chaos. That is what will finally prevail. The human race will disappear. Other races in turn will appear and disappear. And human actions are as free and as stripped of meaning as the unfettered movements of the elementary particles. Good, evil, morality, sentiments? Pure ‘Victorian fictions.’ All that exists is egotism. Cold, intact, and radiant.

When I think of metal vocalists (in this realm of metal anyway), I think of Klaus Meine first.

Aretha's totally number one. Her voice is a force of nature, and she knows how to use it, unlike many divas since (thanks, Clive Davis). Everyone else is battling for second.

Please let me know of any occasions when Meine sang as well as Dio did on 'Stargazer'. Cheers.
