in terms of what..pure vocal talent..
if so, iggy pop certainly doesnt make the list..
does entertainment value weigh in?
are there some metrics on this?
neil young is a favorite of mine, but he's not a great singer..

Singer is difficult. There are some very talented singers who's music I do not enjoy. ie Mariah Carrey.
Best frontman would be more a more interesting poll.

But I believe this thread subject is about Great Singing, not Great Songwriting (even if Freddie was responsible for writing a few good tunes)

Aretha's totally number one. Her voice is a force of nature, and she knows how to use it, unlike many divas since (thanks, Clive Davis). Everyone else is battling for second.
