arkin I <3 your list. I might agree with it even more than my own. Good call on Crying and Out There On The Ice. And I love that someone else put Cover Me (Slowly) on the best openers... and Miner almost made my list.

thanks!
I think this year had a lot of really great non-single album tracks. Though closers were surprisingly hard to come up with...

Yeah I had the same thought... A lot of my favourite albums this year had average, so-so closers.. Cut Copy had that pathetic little outro, M83 had the (admittedly beautiful) 11 minute ambient drone outro that doesn't really fit on the album, Deerhunter had Twilight at Carbon Lake which I think is the worst song on the album (but by no means bad)...

Montana, your grasp on the music world is limited and lacks diversity. I now understand why people do not take you seriously. I'm sorry. We'll always have Grandaddy, at least.

Sorry dude but this year my top five obliterated the rest. Best straight up rock year in a long time, and when that happens, those songs will dominate any possible list I can come up with.

And let's not even get into our album year end lists. My list is far more diverse and unique than yours(which will no doubt have high placements for REM, The Killers, Of Montreal and Okervill River).

No not really. I def have a "worst albums" list though, but that's not part of the poll.

Dude, everyone know that this is bullshit. You can't go on about GNR all the fuckin' time and tell people how wrong they are, rank the album #1 for the year, give 341 songs of theirs as the year's best, with one of the best openers and one of the best closers (which is wtf worthy in itself. The title track is the biggest piece of shit in that pile of turds) and then NOT name them as your artist of the year.

Flip your one and two. Do it mate, you know you want to.

Mitch, my explanation is that I love my top 5 albums considerably more than the rest, and that the songs on those albums are better than the rest of the stuff on my list. Any time people are making good rock records they are going to dominate any other lists I make.

I don't understand why Montana likes Fleet Foxes. They seem like the ball-less, boring, generic, same as 100 other bands style band he should despise.

there will be decent placement for both REM and the Killers, yes.

I hate the new of montreal and i don't know what an Overkill River is.

Sorry.

My list will trump yours in sheer diversity. It's just a fact.
