And does a poll really invalidate the board? OMG guys these people like The Walkmen this board sucks let's leave it forever!!!!

Heretix OTM.

It's worth noting that Harvey Milk and Boris placed higher here than any year end list I've seen.

Damo Suzuki: So, um, yeah. Getting older isn't as bad as it sounds. Better than being young & poor (DjDrake) or young & slutty (SG) or young, poor and slutty (Paves); am I right?

Alright, my friends. It's time for another solid little rock jam

I do wonder why I ever thought to join this place sometimes.

You're over-reacting... this isn't a metal board, do you really expect the 'indie' heavyweight albums to do badly on a board that is largely centered around 'indie rock?' I mean, yeah, hell, it would be great if Harvey Milk and Boris were higher, but they aren't. And does a poll really invalidate the board? OMG guys these people like The Walkmen this board sucks let's leave it forever!!!!

Yeah...

I realise this, thus me posing the question as to why I thought to join this place in the first place.

Herculues and Love Affair - Hercules and Love Affair

SOMB Says: If you're trying to get sweaty on the dance floor, take a stranger home for hot sweaty sex, lay in bed and relax till the sweat cools off and then go back to the club, all in just under 60 minutes, this is your soundtrack. No doubt much has been made of the sounds that make up the first half of the album (the sweaty dancing and sexy part), and with good reason. It's as authentic as you can get to late 70's disco without coming off as cheesy this many decades removed from the period. The classic grooves of "Hercules Theme" and "Athene" will have you double checking the liner notes, Allmusic and Wikipedia to verify that yes, these songs were released in 2008 and not on some defunct underground New York label 30 years ago. Another revelation is how great of a disco diva that Antony Hegarty of Antony and The Jonhsons makes. His gender-defying alto/tenor has always added a pained beauty to his regular group, but when unleashed among a barrage of drum machines, synthesizer and horns, that pained voice, now with a little more vitality, provides the perfect remedy for lonely broken hearts in search of a dance floor. While the first half of the album will get any party moving, things get slower and darker during the second part (the post-coital section), but no less intriguing. To get upset at the album for not being a non-stop dance party is to miss the point. It's a love letter not just to house and disco, but to fringe club genres of the late 70's and 80's, as can be seen in the gothic pop of "Easy" and the Kraftwerk-esque closer, "Roar". It may be a jarring switch up at first, but when all is said and done, Hercules and Love Affair is an enjoyable and unique time warp that's pure at heart, done with nothing but respect and sincerity. - Midnite_Vulture

Hercules & Love Affair's debut full length is full of timeless pop songwriting. Excellent recording.

MV's blurb is fantastic mainly because it mentions sweaty sex, but other aspects of it are notable, as well. Dude is an excellent writer. One of the finest here.

Met a amicable black dude last night who enjoyed soul music and singing led zeppelin songs. Might've been the closest I'll ever get to meeting board legend, Midnite_Vulture

Yeah, I like SOMB again. The first time I heard these guys was when I downloaded their songs from the singles poll. Brilliant stuff.
