Is this M83 album better than the last one? That left me cold so I never bothered this time around.

Well, it's got a pulse so you best stick with Third.
Every Sunday morning I wake up
I see you by your dresser doing your make-up
Fluttering a Chinese fan in a Knoxville fashion
All last night you tossed and turned
Your body was hotter than the night Richmond burned
You say you had a bad nightmare about tractor trailers crashing

Terrible year for music. Dreadful. Kanye West and Malkmus are the only listenable albums of the year.

183 Felice Brothers - Felice Brothers 360 5 0

Sticks out like a sore thumb. Some of you assholes need to go fishing for this, seems like it would be right up SOMB's alley.

Made my top ten. Great album. It just didn't get pimped enough pre-list.

I'm guessing many of those who voted for Third killed themselves on New Years eve. Sad they didn't get to see their favorite album make it to #1. God bless.

Sad indeed. When an indie dinosaur is lapping 99% of popular musicians. TVOTR? I'd rather kiss my cat's nuts

though the top 2 are good, this list may possibly be worse than last year.

Well, it's got a pulse so you best stick with Third.

Is this a Pink Floyd reference?

p.s. was an honest question. I quite like previous M83 but it isn't top on my list so I haven't got around to this album yet. Surprised to see it so high.

Yeah, it's fucking awesome. It's a huge, epic pop album. I'd say it's as good as Dead Cities, and definitely deserving of the acclaim. Just download "Kim & Jessie" from the singles thread, one of the best songs of the year.

Seems like not nearly enough people heard this record; whenever I play it for friends they at least like it.

Also: awesome work, Paul!

Oh fuck yes on Portishead. Fantastic #1. SOMB done well. ^^good call there Holiday. I thought that Max Richter was amazing as well. And though I'd certainly rank many of these differently and add some that missed the cut, I can honestly say that almost everything that I've heard that wound up on this list was at least a bit enjoyable for me. I really think this place has got pretty decent taste overall.
