I don't mind Scully, even though he's SoCal. Lon Simmons, John Krukow, Duane Kuiper, and Tom Tolbert are my home boys.

They actually did a top 50. He's #31, and his dad just missed the top ten.

I think we all know that Howard Cosell and even someone just imitating Howard Cosell is the greatest sportscaster of all time. also Dennis Miller.

I have a lot of respect for Al Michaels, especially the way he handled the World Series earthquake thing in 1989. I also loathe Joe Buck, also, both Skip & Chip Caray rode on Harry's coattails.

No, that's Harry Kalas. He's from Naperville, y'know. Ernie Harwell did Tigers games. I have no problems with Vin Scully being #1. Tangential discussion: the best broadcaster in Chicago sports right now is Pat Hughes, and second is John Wiedeman from the Blackhawks radio team. Guy's processing the game at a mile a minute and loving every moment of it. It's a treat. Pat's the voice of summer, though.

I'll listen to 700 when I can (clear nights, basically), and Marty Brennaman is one of the great voices of baseball, even if his hissy fit over the Adam Dunn thing has consigned me to thinking he's a pretty crappy person. Jeff Brantley does solo play-by-play for one inning of Reds radio and it's an unmitigated disaster. It puts Ron Santo in perspective.

Whenever I drive through Wisconsin in the summer, I love catching Eucker doing a Brewers game on the radio, but I don't recall seeing him on the list. I wonder if Bud Collins got bumped all the way to the bottom of the list because his sport is no longer very popular. He's at least one of the most interesting guys on this list.

Nah, he's a great guy in person. I had the pleasure of working in the Reds press box for two years in college as a reporter - alongside such luminaries as Jay Mariotti.

I went three-four years without seeing Marty in person after that. Bumped into him one day at a store, he greets me by name, asks about my grades, etc. He is very passionate about his opinions, and isn't afraid to voice them - something that started basically after fans rose up and told Marge Schott to leave him alone.

Jeff Brantley does solo play-by-play for one inning of Reds radio and it's an unmitigated disaster. It puts Ron Santo in perspective.
