So, in honour of the other posts of people introducing themselves here, I though I'd do one.

My name is Nole and I'm a 26 year old math teacher. My wife and I just had our first son, Cash on December 28th, 2008. In my previous life, I played drums for this band. But once I got married I didn't want to tour anymore and the wife and I settled down in Central Oregon. I'm into music, films, literature, riding my bike, and fantasy football.

Oh, and I've loved the AZ Cardinals my whole life and am shocked and stoked that they're in the playoffs.

So, hi...

Oh, a teacher. I studied to be a teacher for almost two years, decided it was way too tough for me and dropped out. Now I'm halfway in my engineering degree

Congratulations on your son, and welcome!

Yay, now I don't feel like such an idiot in introducing myself. I am an eighteen-year old university student, from Melbourne, in Australia. Unlike the majority of forumers here, who, in the northern hemisphere, are freezing their right royal arses off, I am currently enjoying a heatwave down here in the midst of the Australian Open tennis tournament. From tomorrow (Wednesday) until Saturday, the weather will be 40 degrees celsius and over...that's 104 fahrenheit. Woo

Some have mentioned it already, but I'm curious, how have the non-Chicagoans found the board (I'm not local either, I found it through a friend)?

Yeah, his name is Cash Kennedy... pretty tough, huh?

Congrats on the son. Isn't it an amazing feeling?

Its truly amazing. I can't contain my excitment. I was able to be home with him for his first three weeks which was awesome. Going back to work sucked so bad... I miss him terribly.

Some have mentioned it already, but I'm curious, how have the non-Chicagoans found the board (I'm not local either, I found it through a friend)?

I found the board from the show which I found from This American Life podcasts.

No. Not at all. I am not so sure that this recent rash of new posters, and the ensuing threads, is exactly what it seems, though. There are some who frequent SOMB who are currently conspicuously absent.
