Really? I saw them and liked them quite a bit.
you must be confusing them with Mouse on Mars
or 30 Seconds to Mars
or any other band in the world

Well if their inconsistent live performing isn't enough to put you off, the quality of their last record (Steam Engenius and maybe one or two others aside) should. In fact, stretch that back to cover not just We Were Dead but also Good News... - both pretty aimless albums relative to early Modest Mouse.
aimless? I dunno about that. You could argue against the quality, but they're pretty consistent pop records.

This was the case for me. It was a one off show featuring The Breeders, The National (so good), and Modest Mouse headlining. The entire band had energy and their performance was really good. It was really cool seeing Johnny Marr and he seemed really into all the songs, even the ones he had no part in writing. Was it the best concert I've ever seen... of course not. But it was WAY more than "underwhelming."The third time was another headlining show between dates with the two aforementioned bands, and they put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. Seriously.
