Hmm..I first read the word Cub and thought, Eddie's finally sang at a conference in support of his mother. CUB is an acronym for Concerned United Birthparents, an organization that unites birthparents (biological parents who relinquished their children to adoption), a group that has been historically marginalized, at best, by the general population. Being involved in the open records for adoptees movement is how I became close friends with Karen Vedder, Eddie's mother.

I'm sure separated mothers and sons do a lot of karaoke after their tearful reunions.

the video was taken down before i could see it but this thread did prompt me to read vedder's wikipedia page, which then led to my discovery that b-side "black, red, yellow" is about the mid-90s chicago bulls teams. how cool is that? every time i forget how much i love eddie vedder i see/hear/discover something like that that reconstitutes his excellence. also, big story in billboard about pearl jam today. apparently they're recording in LA w/ brendan o'brien right now and plan to self release their next record.

I should have said that differently...it doesn't unite birthparents with their children...it's a support group for birthmothers that adoptees may attend as well...and, as a matter of fact, there happens to be a lot of singing and merriment in the evenings during the annual conferences.
