Anyone here think about this sort of thing? Let's say for the purpose of this thread that you passed away next week. How/where would you like your family to put your body? Yes, strange topic but maybe its something to think about. My will already states, "PLEASE DON'T PUT ME IN A BOX". Yeah, I know i'm already dead, but don't put me in a fucking coffin 6 feet below the earth for the rest of eternity. I would like to be cremated and my living family dump my ashes into Saint Mary's Lake on the campus of Notre Dame. I'd be really happy to spend eternity there. Obviously a very macabre subject, but its something I've thought about as I approach middle age. I'd rather address the situation now with my family before I get run over by a bus and don't have a choice. For the record, I'm the happiest frickin guy going right now, and its not something i'm worried about. I have another 40 years easily.

despite my religion, i've always wanted to be cremated and have my ashes dumped at the dakota where John Lennon was killed.
I fully support people doing drugs on the streets. I'm sick and tired of people being selfish by doing drugs in the privacy of their own homes. Do it on the streets where you can share with your friends and neighbors. It's the Christian thing to do.

Great answers guys!
Download this EP I made. The songs are pretty close to where they should be. I colaborated with Brian Wilson and Thom Yorke and then we all fucked in my basement apartment. Thom has a really big dick suprisingly, and Brian Wilson cried the whole time, yelling "These moans are not in perfect harmonic unison". Anyway, it sounds like what you would imagine something from that situation sounds like.

well, i don't care for the churchly rituals very much and would not like to be put in a cemetery. always have wanted to be cremated and never really thought much about getting them scattered somewhere, but if i had to choose a place it would probably be at the edge of a small man made pond within walking distance of my folks house preferably done at night during the hot summer when all the frogs are a croaking

Cremation because burial is an unnecessary burden on the planet for stupid ceremony. Other than that I really can't say I care at all. I don't think about death in that way. I don't fear it at all. I just want to have a legacy. I have fantasies of my death, that other people care enough about my life to cry over my death. That's all I really want. I want people to be soul-crushingly devastated when I die. Hopefully I will have been noteworthy enough for someone to auction my ashes on Ebay 3.0 or put them in a museum. Maybe my kids will want them. That would be a nice gesture.

Haven't thought much about it, except to know I'll be cremated. My ex wants his ashes to be flushed down the toilet. Had an unexpected reaction to my mom's wish to have her ashes spread where my family went camping for 25 years. Without her. She'd divorced my dad, and wanted nothing to do w/ camping. We postponed any action for a few years and I put her in the closet. While living she had frequently hinted at wanting to move into my home, I figured she'd be happy to get her way. Finally my out-of-state sister came down for a visit and insisted we get it done. I didn't go with them, it was an overnight trip. One of my sisters, unbeknownst to the other, filled a couple of small plastic bindles with ashes and gave me one. I still have it in the pocket of a canvas satchel. In the closet. One of these days I'll cut her loose.

Die early -- donated organs. Die late -- cremation.

As I told Sir Helmet at LO{PP. I do not want to think about dying right now. If I were to really figure out how I would be perserved/removed from this world, I'm pretty sure I would go with cremation. The only thing is, it always felt like some sort of return to nature type ritual, and I have no desire to return to nature. In all honesty, I would like to be put in a marble casket under a busy sidewalk in New York city. I'd forever stay where I had always wanted to be, and the marble is just a fresh touch.

At Cliff Weismyer's.
Every Sunday morning I wake up
I see you by your dresser doing your make-up
Fluttering a Chinese fan in a Knoxville fashion
All last night you tossed and turned
Your body was hotter than the night Richmond burned
You say you had a bad nightmare about tractor trailers crashing

I really want a natural burial. Wrapped in a cloth or biodegradable coffin if they must have one.

No natural burial preserves in Illinois yet, though. Gonna have to wait, I guess.

This is pretty important to me.

Also cremated, for exactly the same reasons cited by Chrono. It's kind of appalling how much space cemetaries gobble. Funny thing is I'm terrified of bunring to death, or worse, living after being burnt badly.

Heh heh, I'm sure you'd like to do the honours.

I dunno, I always imagined I'd be cremated. At this point I only imagine a few people caring about my passing, but even among those it's pretty depressing. I guess I'd let those who care celebrate/lament my death in anyway they seem fit. They can throw me in a trench and throw a monument on top if they feel like it, but hell I'll take a tiny stone or whatever.

No, it'll be stupid, and we're already doing something stupid.

great idea, actually. i'm going to look into this.

it seems to be the most sensible route. everything else is a bit of a waste, no?
