Hi, my name is Badger and I have never heard 'Jane Doe' by Converge. I'm starting to think this is a failing on my part.

Yes, it is a failing.

You fail us.

Please don't hate me

See, you fail so hard that you missed the reference:

Damo Suzuki: So, um, yeah. Getting older isn't as bad as it sounds. Better than being young & poor (DjDrake) or young & slutty (SG) or young, poor and slutty (Paves); am I right?

Alright, my friends. It's time for another solid little rock jam

Official

15. Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon

Too low....

17. Arcade Fire Funeral

This has fallen way off my radar lately. For whatever reason I have a hard time tolerating Win's overly dramatic shrieking these days.

27. Led Zeppelin Houses Of The Holy

Nice.
Every Sunday morning I wake up
I see you by your dresser doing your make-up
Fluttering a Chinese fan in a Knoxville fashion
All last night you tossed and turned
Your body was hotter than the night Richmond burned
You say you had a bad nightmare about tractor trailers crashing

Most of the obscure stuff is obscure because it's crap.

Converge is not that obscure.

Also, you can be the grizzly to it and it has balls to boot!

how anybody past the age of 19 might enjoy Converge is beyond me... it's really good hardcore/metal/crossover/whatever and i respect it, but i find it funny that any adult could listen to this stuff on a regular basis.

I tried getting into it this morning based on the hype in here and I just couldn't. Made me pine for my hardcore days, but I just can't go back. It's over.

I've listened to Converge's last three albums at least once each since my 19th birthday (Tuesday.)

c'mon...

He has a point.

thanks.

my only point is that eventually you will grow out of good fast, ugly and heavy music and hopefully into more interesting areas and genres. the ones that don't ever grow out of this kind of stuff scare the shit out of me. i still play old hardcore and metal stuff from time to time, just not all that often.

and to be honest the little Converge that i have heard was not that special sounding to me anyway.

(here's where you all can dish it but can't take it... go!)

I'm amazed that someone of your taste says that. You bang on about pop-punk/grr-punk all the time.

Converge is like what you listen to, just less MOR.

If you don't actually like energetic music, then that's fine. But that 'I find it funny' condescension is just sad.

[edit]

the little Converge that i have heard...

Ah, there we go. The wisdom of ignorance.

Everybody who likes Converge here has done the latter, as they tend to be the small percentage of people on this board who aren't convinced that North American Indie Rock is somehow the center of the entire music universe.

The former is a Montana level assertion.
